In this video I unbox a Kyosho Javelin. It's the re-release and updated version of the 1986 Javelin. One of the iconic RCs of the 80s. A beautiful kit and a fascinating chassis/drivetrain. A deeper look at the parts and components. Don't forget to subscribe. I hope you enjoy the video! Thanks.

As others have said, this is how to do an unboxing !!! You mentioned chain would be the way to go, just wonder the thought process there ? I have one arriving tomorrow and have no clue which to do 🤪 Only ever had shaft drive in past so thought I’d ask 😁

Thanks, john jarvis! I decided to use chain drive because back in the day that was the setup for the original Javelin and Optima-and it's more unique. It also produces a distinct sound although it's very subtle. It might be in my mind but it feels quite smoother. If you plan to put a lot of power and bash the kit, long-term the belt one might be more suitable. Good luck with the build!

@@MechanicAfterHours ok thanks for the reply , I don’t do shelf queens all my cars are runners, but saying that I don’t want to go too crazy with the javelin it’s just too nice looking and I want to keep it like that. Even thinking about getting another set of wheels and tires for running so I can keep the box ones looking nice lol. So I was going to go belt, but leaning more towards chain now. I’ll just have to buy another Kyosho at some point so I can have a belt car too 🤑

My 1st rc was the Kyosho optima. This looks like a carbon copy just about.

Thanks for watching! Yes, it definitely they share the same chassis. I believe the difference is just the wing, body, and some minor attachments for the body. Came out just right after the Optima.

Hi there and thanks for watching. The re-issue is made in Taiwan. I'm not sure if there are some components in the kit that are from Japan. However, most of the Taiwan stuff is quite excellent since they've been producing RC parts and electronics for quite some time-and I'm sure the molds are the same from the original for most parts.
