Excellent reaction and analysis. KZ is one of my favorite singers. I'm not sure that I've ever heard her sing a jazz song but she certainly has the talent for it. She sees herself more as a soul or r&b singer. She's also a very good songwriter and is very popular in The Philippines. This song you just listened to was arranged hastily when the show informed the contestants that they only had 2 days rather than a week before the next taping. Time to rehearse with the show's band was very limited, so she had her guitarist fly in from The Philippines. He arrived the morning of the show, they worked out the arrangement in the afternoon and performed it that night. The arrangement was genius and highly praised by A Great Big World who originated the song. As for other songs by KZ, most people will say Rolling In The Deep or Royals, both from the Singer 2018 and I like them very much. To be different, I'll recommend a duet of KZ and Jaya singing Feeling Good.
