Newbie here. Having been a Floyd fan since 1967 I can totally relate to your reaction. I'm 71 years young and my last band covered this tune in 2021. Even playing it live I would get emotional. Gilmour's solo prowess is beyond comparison. His guitar is singing. It's talking. Sure, there are many guitar gods, but Gilmour is a singular phenom. Thank you very much for this honest reaction. The young bass player is Guy Pratt, who was married to Richard Wright’s daughter and a very accomplished musician Every single song on this tour is a banger. I saw 2 shows in London, having stayed 2 days after the first one to try to get another ticket As everyone left post show, there was near silence as we tried to digest what we had seen and heard Eventually my buddy stopped and said to me - did we just really experience that?- and we hugged and smiled and sparked it another joint, having had.about 6 pre gig 😎 By the way, that mirror ball was about the size of a small house and its appearance caused a collective gasp! Never been a show like it, never will be again Glad you enjoyed

There are three original members on this show. Nick Mason (Drums percussion), Richard Wright (Keyboards vocals) and David Gilmour (Guitar vocals). This Pulse concert was for me their best live show.

Seeing someone react to their first experience of this song and especially this performance takes me back to when I first heard and saw it. I absolutely sobbed with emotion and the force of emotive intent in the light/stage show. I missed the PULSE tour by two years (by age...I was 11 during the tour, and my first concert was at 13), but I think if I had witnessed this in real life, I would have collapsed in a hysterical mess of laughing, clapping, crying, and speaking in tongues

David's guitar has an elegance,no other guitarist can or will ever match. Did you cry? David says he puts all of his emotions into his playng, they are felt in his every note. So tears are our way of feellng his emotions 🙏

His solos take your soul on a ride

You're right to be envious. The atmosphere at a Pink Floyd concert stays with you for life. I saw them in '88 and they already had the huge circle that doubles as a screen to play movie clips. In the queue to enter, they weren't letting glass in, so bottles of spirits were being passed back along the line. You'd take a slug, pass it back and repeat. Once inside, guys wandered among the crowd with their girlfriends on their shoulders, tossing joints to everyone who put their hand up. At one point on the screen a huge bomber aircraft appeared… just as the real thing actually flew low and slow over us at the outdoor venue. Fucking magic.

I may be old now but boy was I blessed to be a teen in the 70's. Our music was beyond outstanding, and I have no idea how many concerts I went to, including these Masters of Rock.

I have seen Pink Floyd Live 4 times… I saw this same show Syracuse Carrier Dome in N.Y. 1994. The concert brochure said the stage is 120 feet wide. It takes a crew of 60 technicians three days to set up the entire lights and all. The concert schedule required that there had to be three entire crews to keep up. They leap froged each other for 92 shows with 20 Trucks per crew and a total staff of 195. The tour cost the promoters $98.MILLION to put on, but the total profit was $260 MILLION. Nick Mason’s drumming is incredible and matches Gilmour’s guitar emotions while Richard Wright takes us on a Magic Carpet Ride of tones that form the foundation of it all. When the “Disco Ball’ was uncovered and the lights hit it….. WHAT IS HAPPENING was what I said….The entire crowd was held in a trace and our minds totally blown by what we witnessed. I sparked up my pipe for this reaction, as I do to all Pink Floyd songs. Thanks

One of the amazing things about Floyd was not only the music but their epic visual performances at their concerts. The light show and visual effects all enhanced the experience to make it like nothing else you will ever see again.

I regard myself as being so lucky fortunate call it what you will to have grown up with pink floyd and so many very talented rock groups of the age British rock music in the sixtees onward was incredible we had so much choice it was a fantastic experience but the group for me that are still a world apart are without question pink floyd david gilmour has a very special gift of conveying his emotions through his pure genius with his guitar im 74 years young and will be forever young listening to the masters of progressive sycadelic rock that is pink floyd what an absolutely incredible group there has never been a group like them and I dont think there ever will be another

I've watched this performance I don't know how many hundreds of times. But, a lot. And I still get moved to tears. Pink Floyd truly live on their own planet, their own world. They make the most life-affirming music.They also performed a song called High Hopes at that concert. I think it's even more moving than C. Numb as it evokes memories of childhood. That bass guitarist is Guy Pratt who replaced Roger Waters when Waters tried to disband Pink Floyd. He sued to disband the group and lost so they continued touring and producing music without him.

On Nick Mason, I saw him perform a few months ago. At 78, he still has that relaxed flow that sets the mood. Incredible.

This is one of those performances that you carry with you, you hold it in you soul. We've all have leaking faces to this piece😢. It's all part of the emotional dam breaking. This concert series had 3 stages leapfrogging around the world. They ran 57 semi trucks of equipment. 2 Boeing 747s and an Antonov military heavy lift aircraft

That was the first of 2 encores. The 2nd was 'Run Like Hell.' I saw this show 'live' two nights in a row in Oakland , CA. 1994. This is the end of about 3 hours worth of music. An absolutely AWESOME night.

I was blessed to see this show 4 times. It was a mindblowing experience all 4 times.

The backup singers were stars themselves! Nobody less than Sam Brown was amongst them, who had had her own hit end of the 80ies. Watch „Great gig in the sky“, where they showcased the abilities of their „background“ singers on the Pulse Tour!

This song means a lot to a lot of people... and has touched me since I first heard it when it first came out some almost 50 years ago now.....

My musical brother…. I feel you. At 71 years old I am way familiar with their music. Saw them live well before this masterpiece was written. But I bought the double CD and popped it into the player on my car….i don’t remember driving at all. Just that song.

I was one of the lucky to be at that concert. I remember at the end of the song, I end up on my knees, totally spent, done, emotionally drained because I realised something that will never ever ever be as good as that and I thank all the gods on earth for being alive to witnesed. Many will try to be as good but they will fail, always.

I saw them in Baton Rouge in the 70s. When the show was over you just sat for a few minutes saying, "Wow!"....

I was fortunate enough (aka OLD) to see them twice. Once in 1988 and once in 1995 for the Pulse tour. I had VIP floor seats for Pulse; we all received seat cushions with the Division Bell logo printed on them. And yes, I still have them. My favorite band and this is my favorite song. David Gilmour is a legend!

They followed up with the finale of Run Like Hell. Saw this show in June 1994. 20 at the time. Greatest night of my life!!!!!!

There are other guitar players who may be more technically better players but no one can bring out the emotion that David Gilmour can evoke with his playing! He's a master! This performance is the best solo ever!! I read that Eric Clapton was once asked what it's like to be the best guitar player in the world and he responded you had better ask David Gilmour about that! You are an intuitive person. A few decades ago, I worked as a 911 dispatcher for police fire and EMS. My co-worker and I would get off our shift and chill at her apartment and listen to this song and also Time (really just a lot of Pink Floyd). It helped us express what we’d dealt with during intense shifts at the police department. I’m going to subscribe to you now. You’re pretty awesome and you definitely get the Pink Floyd experience. Please consider listening to the full albums all at once, you’ll get the intended result for sure. I don’t work in the law enforcement side of law anymore, more of the court side but it’s now good to light one and still trip on Pink Floyd. The meanings of the songs definitely hit different as the years go by.

I remember the first time I saw this on video, lights out, music up, TV on.... it was totally and utterly life changing. And I wasnt even fucking there. I cant even begin to imagine how almost spiritual an experience it must have been to have been there in real life.

I was lucky enough to see this tour live in CA at the Rose bowl in 1994 when I was 18yo. To this day there has not been any concert I've seen whether in person or on video that has matched this level ever since!

It took us 5 ,16 hour days to build this show. The round screen in the center had been a part of their Tours for a long time.Hazers and moving lights, "paints":the screen and Cyclorama on the upstage wall. Tilting the screen and pointing it at Gilmore during his Solos is a dramatic effect. Great surround sound, from the "Quad Towers" we built on top of the stadium bleachers. I'm 74 and have heard this song hundreds of times and it still brings a tear to my eyes. It grabs your soul and opens up feelings you didn't know you were capable of having. That is the PF experience that I've been in love with since day one. Watched a few of your vids and this reaction made me subscribe, honest and sincere. Back in O.C. Calif when I was 30 my wife heard a commercial on the radio about a David Gilmour show coming up. Knowing I am a Floyd fan she called the radio station (KMET - LA, “The Mighty Met”) to get information on the concert, The DJ on live radio Cynthia Fox…. said...."Congratulations, YOU are caller number 10, YOU just won tickets to the show and the Sound Check Party before the show"... I met David Gilmour back stage. He gave us both a signed album that I have in my music room. We talked for 22 minutes. I called him…“The Master Of The Stratocaster” He smiled. I told him his music will stand the test of time with anything from Beethoven or Mozart. He smiled even bigger. I asked if I could shake both his hands that make such great guitar solos, he smiled bigger and said “Sure” and shook both hands at the same time, making a cross between us, I smiled HUGE. Hard to explain how awesome that moment was in my life. I asked him to describe his technique of playing guitar, he replied… “I strike a note, bend it, shake it and then release it”…. Yes, he does that quite well, better than any other guitarist I know. . I told him in my eyes he’s a “Legend“. He thanked me and said “Enjoy the show”…. during the concert after the song “Money” he looked right at me and said…. “On saxophone, another Legend, Mr. Raphael Ravenscroft” … acknowledging my comment to him. It is my favorite moment in over 300 shows I’ve seen. I asked David…. How do you create those awesome solos?… he said….. I sit on a stool and listen to what Roger, Nick and Rick put down and play along. I listen to what I played and pick out what I like, then I put the pieces together into one piece then learn to play it as one. Our fans are fanatics for our shows to sound like the albums so I must play it correctly each time in a show. I have the concert Brochure and album on the wall with David’s picture centerfold. All of us fortunate enough to have seen this show live were in a TRANCE.... MESMERIZED the entire show... as you can imagine. We walked out saying.... What did we just witness? That was out of this world incredible. The Red Fender Stratocaster he used for this concert in the Guitar Collector World is ....PRICELESS

Saw this tour the summer of 94 in New Orleans. Hands down the best show I've ever been to. They closed with Run like Hell and blew everything up. Incredible show/tour.

Still listen to their albums more than any other band. It’s just so relaxing to sit back with headphones on and some good ganja… allegedly!😎

I think music is a great 'unblocker' in that it can often help release the feelings we have under the surface that need airing, whether it's to cry, smile, laugh or otherwise.

This is the best version of this song with the extended solo....The Pulse Tour, available on DVD is the best of the best for most of their songs.

I saw them on the Dark Side of the Moon and Momentary Lack of Reason tours. Two of the most impressive "shows" I ever saw.

I saw them earlier that year in Houston, in an outdoor session. I can't imagine indoor, being in that arena and experiencing this performance. This was the best. Also don't worry about your eyes sweating. In this experience, it is very much allowed.

Saw Floyd after the division bell album dropped…enormous pink pig hovering over me in Syracuse NY circa 1990…

I went to the Pulse tour, was just a teenager and it blew my mind. I've seen David once more on his 2016 tour and it was a more modest show, but the music/performance was still incredible.
