Anyone who is a fan of Cherie or the Runaways should read Neon Angel. There's a part in the book where Cherie is literally dying on her feet from cocaine. It's mentioned in this video but she quite literally was dying. She did "narrowly escape" death. By mere weeks. Very good but also very intense book. I'm glad she managed to get away from that. Strong woman.
@waynej26084 жыл бұрын
Yes, I read it, and it is scary. Poor Cherie really had some heavy shit to deal with. Being raped by a lunatic, for starters. Glad she got into recovery. A great woman, with beauty and spirit and rock and roll grit.

Wow, I remember being a little girl who listened to the Runaways, and watched the movie Foxes, and realized for the first time that Cherrie Currie rocked my life in more ways than one! She was so sexy, still is, but in Foxes she was a blonde bombshell to me. Thanks for the memories.

I was a pre-teen at the time, and remember all the older people doing drugs. I grew up watching people snort cocaine and separate seeds from the pot so they could roll a joint... so ya, I remember the drugs! Not that any of that has really changed now, but people are heavier due to the processing of food, I suppose. I just remember wanting to be apart of a Cherrie Currie and Joan Jett sandwhich...right in the middle!

it’s crazy. the Runaways weren’t together that long. already began dissolving just in over 2 yrs. so it really says something bout the industry that she went from zero to 100 so quickly. in just 2yrs a quaalude and coke addict, pregnant by a manager, i mean wow. it’s also odd-she looks younger here than she did performing cherry bomb live on stage back in the day.

I saw an interview with Kathy Valentine from the Go Go's, the first time she did heroin she said: "I knew right then that this was the way I wanted to feel for the rest of my life". It was 7 years later before she kicked it. The same thing exact story for Danny Hutton from Three Dog Night, only it was 15 years for him. No happy endings down that road.

@agenthelios1 Whenever a family unit has the level of dysfunction that Cherie's family had it is very easy to succumb to the feeling canceling effects that drugs and alcohol provide. Addiction can be more profound. I am referring to people that are more prone to being sensitive. People that genuinely love their family and cannot bear to see such unhappiness and suffering of those that they care about. I hate it when people that are not sensitive judge others for being so.
@maranderson5614 жыл бұрын
It is good to see that she is doing so well now. Although these are very dated interviews, obviously. Is there any newer information on her these days? @agentthelios1 it is true that those of you who haven't ever done the stuff she or others did, I agree wholeheartedly with @ncwdane, that God rejoices not only in those who are walking right, but rejoices when one of those were lost and are now found.

Ever watched K-Pop? Or most mainstream pop? Beautiful production value/frequently-but-not-always vapid subject-matter/scantily clad teens choreographed to a tee. Many of today's performers, from very young onward, still exploit their physical assets to augment their stage shows. Not judging either way just saying, the beat goes on, and sex sells. That said, I'd like to think they're wiser than my gen was concerning unsafe sex, chemical assistance and money management, at least I hope so.
