I grew up in La Jolla, but I left after high school, fifty years ago. La Jolla was a village back then, mostly upper middle class families. Relatively affordable. Most houses had not been remodeled into mega mansions. It was definitely a great place to be a kid. We didn’t know we had it so good! Oh, and by the way, you were within a hundred yards of the famous viewing spot for sea lions when you turned around. Ah shucks! Great tour! Thanks for the memories.

My heart smiled when I saw the title of this video. I visited La Jolla one evening in May of 2016, and I felt it was very beautiful and would defiantly go back..Wait until you head up the highway to Malibu. Lol, I never seen soo many people driving Tesla's and those views are beautiful. Take care, and keep enjoying out west.

I looks like this in most coastal towns on way up to LA, you have Orange County, so there is Newport Beach, Laguna all gorgeous San Louis Obispo

I LOVE Carmel By the Sea ( Clint Eastwood used to be the Mayor). It's so charming and has great restaurants. Check it out! Drive to Pebble Beach too.

Got married in La Jolla 1989. Stayed at Summer House Inn. Now the Hotel La Jolla. Beautiful place!

la Jolla is a very nice area I used to live in la Jolla and it's gorgeous their beaches are very nice the houses are beautiful

It's truly beautiful! Never been there to La Jolla but reminds me of Laguna Beach to the north (in Southern Orange County). I still remember the wonderful Baha restaurant (can't recall the name) and warm balmy water there.

There’s actually only one coconut palms in southern California , and you can actually look it up , it’s in Newport Beach and it’s about 3 ft.talll. The Micro climate in Newport Beach is one of the few places that can support it.

Go to Santa Barbara,then Check out Carpenteria,,Pismo, cut over to Cayucos-Cambria,Hearst Castle with zebras,long slow curvy ride up Hwy 1 thru Big Sur literally jaw dropping,On to Carmel,Monterey hit the wharf,17 mile drive Pebble Beach...

I should've visited SD when I lived in LA that place is amazingly beautiful.

I love Cycling in LA Jolla, Driving through La Jolla is therapeutic too

Also check out Lake Tahoe and Yosemite and the Sequoias it’s a drive like 8-9 hours from San Diego.

You can drive on the beach in one areas where the surfers frequent.

I used to work in La Jolla for 2.5 years and it was not bad. At the same time I have to admit, it is extremely expensive part of San Diego.

I think Naples , Florida with the houses way back from the street, palm tree lined streets, beautiful blue sky. Yes! We should all be able to live in paradise! The rest of the city is not so pretty., homeless is a problem in downtown La Jolla.

My husband went to San Diego one year and my health had been really bad right before that and I could not go with him much before. But this time I got to go. We stayed near the harbor where people where complaining about a 89 degree day. Geez us in Florida can do an 89 degree day in a sweater lol. We took a bus tour and saw seals or seal lions down on some rocks. I had seen California on tv and in the movies all my life but it was beautiful in it's own way. I am just a Florida lubber though. This brings back the early 2000's to me.

F-the taxes! It’s effin California!! Not swampy, buggy, muggy, worth every single penny!! Coming from Florida and the excess cost of home insurance; that almost pays the taxes alone!

I lived in San Pedro which is L.A.harbor just north of the Pacific Princess cruise ship which is The Love Boat !!! I was off of Gaffney and Pacific Ave my Living room window I could see Catalina island just a gorgeous view my family are all In the Longshoreman union which is the best union out there!!!

There is a lot of cheap housing in Florida because there are no high paying industries there (Disney a CA company is the largest private employer in FL). Cali creates industries that dominate the world. High paying jobs and wealth creation have attracted millions more people over that decades than any other state which drives up the housing costs to he point where there are no cheap places to live anymore. That is why there is a homeless problem.

In census 2010 (the most recent available as it's just a section of SD) La Jolla was about 11.2 percent Asian and 7.2 Percent Hispanic, and only 0.8% Black. Some wealthy Southern California suburbs do have a a fairly large Hispanic minority.

The median house price in La Jolla is $2.7 million. In the rest of San Diego it is over $800,000. Is it any wonder there are homeless and people are moving to Texas and Florida?

I have 3 homes I own in Lajolla California. I just moved my mother in one and my daughter and 4 dogs in the other.

The first time I lived in Southern California, reminded me of Hawaii or Florida there being so many palms and other exotics like banana plants which actually fruit. Avocados are popular in the area. I was surprised when I heard you couldn't grow any coconut 🥥 there. They are trying to grow it in Orange County near a beach. California would beat Florida as more quality of houses, beaches, cleaner air etc

California has no coconut palms, it's a dry desert climate. They thrive in Tropical climate. I'd love a comparison video, Florida vs California.

I was in San Diego years ago for a nursing conference. The harbor by the hotel was so nice. I'd stay for the weather alone, but it is very expensive to live there!!

Taxes are why everybody gets a lace in Vegas then go over to CA most of the time. Katie Hollywood is not that nice, drive through Rodeo then head up the coast.

But go over just inland or north and you'll find vast areas of million dollar look alike McMansions on flattened ridgetops with cookie cutter strips at the bottom of terraced and planted hillsides among country clubs and private paths. The worst of Florida but with hills! 😳
