The new LA Police Gear Operator L2 Flashlight brings new meaning to bang for your buck. Your initial reaction to this flashlight might be skepticism because of the insanely low price - but don't doubt the quality and brightness of this flashlight. This thing packs a high mode of a scorching 730 lumens and also has a Medium, Low, and Strobe setting. Now typically such a bright light would not last long at that level, but this light can run for 2.3 hours on its high mode and 70 hours on its low mode. Combine that with the unique "twist to program" capability, and you have an amazing flashlight at an amazing price backed by LAPG, the best in the industry. If that wasn't enough, this flashlight also includes (2) CR123 batteries and a nylon belt/molle holster.
The Tactical Mode
In tactical situations it is extremely important that an officer know exactly how his light is going to perform before it is activated. To this end, both of the LA Police Gear Operator Flashlights operate exactly the same way. In the “Tactical Mode” there are two outputs, Strobe and High Output. Switching between the two outputs requires only a “tap” of the tail switch. To put either light into the “Tactical Mode” requires that the officer simply tighten the head of the flashlight. The flashlights have been programmed to start in the High output whenever the light is started or switched to the Tactical mode. In a critical situation the officer knows with complete confidence that if he tightens the head of either light, it will start out in the High output when activated. A simple tap of the tail switch changes to the Strobe output continuous beam. Another tap returns to the High output.
Non-Tactical Working Mode
This mode of operation is accessed by loosening the head of either light a few degrees. In this mode the light has three outputs. High, Medium and Low accessed in that order through tail switch taps. When in the Non-Tactical Mode, the flashlight has a memory that start the light out in the last used output level. When in this mode, tightening the head immediately returns the light to the Tactical Mode - High/Strobe Output.
The LA Police Gear Operator Flashlights have two outputs, High and Medium for normal searching and other investigative work. The Low output is designed to be comfortable for activities like report writing.
