This seems to be the best exposition of Narváez's methods of composing I've ever come across. I say "seems" because, alas, my Spanish isn't good enough to understand it in real time. I tried turning on subtitles, but the auto-generated text wasn't quite up to the task of such specialized vocabulary. Apparently Narváez was very fond of using something called a "cactus filmus"...who knew? Finally, I just watched the notes and gleaned what I could. I still came away with a better understanding of these pieces that I thought I knew well enough--helped along by your beautiful playing at the end. Many thanks!

I have never heard such a wonderful sounding gut-strung vihuela. Your artistry is truly a wonder! Is this vihuela a long scaled(65~69cm) instrument? I think it is tuned to E.

Yes, this vihuela is 66cm. And I tuned it sometimes in E or even in D 😊
