The reason Ravi Kishan’s character did not mention any punishment for the antagonist burning his wife is cause there was no evidence of it. In both the scenes where they mention this incident, the one with the cop and the other where Jaya is telling her story, they both mention that there was speculation that the wife was burnt cause she couldn’t be a mother. There was no proof of it. The cops probably closed the case cause of antagonist being a man in power. For Ravi Kishan’s character to hold the antagonist accountable for that crime, an evidence is important for which he probably has to reopen the crime which does not even fall under his jurisdiction. However, the fact that he hit Jaya can help in supporting the fact he is a violent man and probably burnt his first wife. India do have stringent laws against it, there are certain IPC (Indian Penal Code) sections under which a person can be punished with section 304B - Dowry death being prominent one which says, “Where any burns or bodily injury causes the death of a woman or occurs otherwise than under normal circumstances within seven years of her marriage and it is shown that soon before her death she was subjected to cruelty or harassment by her husband or any relative of her husband for, or in connection with, any demand for dowry, such death shall be called “dowry death” and such husband or relative shall be deemed to have caused her death.” Punishment is of 7 years and can extend to life imprisonment. Similarly sections related to acid attacks are also there, the punishment were made stringent after Nirbhaya case.

Manju dadi ko to wahi pata hai jo phool ne bataya hai. Phool ne bataya the ke shohar ne utara aur station se ghayab hogaya, zewar pehle utar liye thay. To ghalat fehmi to phool ko hui thi. Aur Manju dadi ko bhi wahi pata tha tabhi usne kaha tha ke pati chor gaya tha ab woh aye to tum chor dena.

But in the last Phool proves Dadi wrong. But Dadi's perspective is because of her past.

1. One more thing, Pushpa rani intentionally went along with phool’s man because she wanted to escape. Hence, phool was left alone in the cabin. 2. Can you allow some stranger even if she’s a girl as young as Phool to stay at your place? No. For the same reason dadi didn’t want phool to stay with her as she didn’t trust her at that point. 3. Phool decided to go with Chotu because she had no choice. She was naive and this is how most girls end up getting in wrong situations. But in this situation both the men were good. 4. Manju dadi was tired of men in her life and that was depicted in her character. Her husband and son were freeloaders. She didn’t know about phool’s husband and thought he had abandoned her. 5. Dadi suggesting phool to board on the train was a good choice. She was lost in the same train and learned a good lesson. 6. No evidence means no case. Hence, Pardeep couldn’t be jailed.

I really enjoyed Laapata Ladies and didn’t even pick up on the points Amma mentioned. But now after watching this review, I can say Amma is 100% right about Manju Dadi’s character and the weaknesses in Phool’s storyline. Absolutely wonderful review 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Daadi ka character bitter dikhaya unho ne pehli raat isliye ni rakha phool ko kyunke unko phool ki story itni believble ni lagi or aik anjaan pe trust ni kia 3. pehli raat 2 males k room me sonay ki logic ye thi k ye dikhaya ja sakay k mard achay bi hotay hen or phool thi tau helpless or aisi situations me larkiyaan trust kr leti hen jub koi or option na ho but agreed usko thora alag hona chahiye tha sotay waqt. 4. Aadmi jisnay apni biwi ko jalaya wo assumption tha kyunke uska proof ni tha unho usko bura hi dikhaya he for that. 5. Or last me wo ghoonghat iss liye ni leti kyunke daadi k sath kam krkay pesay kama logon ko face kr wo change hojati uska durr khatam hojata he. 6. Ghoonghat na lena hi tau aik imp msg tha end pe because ghoonghat ki waja se tau wo deepak se door hui thi is liye wo baghair ghoonghat k awaz deti he takay pehchani jai and she breaks old tradition. 7. End me daadi khush bi tau hoti he jub pata chalta he k phool pohnch gai Daadi ka jo nazariya tha wo phool k strong belief k uska husband aaega lene se daadi khushi me change hota he

#feedbackcorner. I loved the movie and loved the review. I watched a good indian movie after ages. There were two things which were a little problemativ for me being a conservative. One which was rightly pointed out by amma that the daadi went too far eith her feminism when she said that agar aurton ko pata lag jae k wo sub kuch khud kr sakti hain tou mardon ka koi kaam nai rahay ga. But men do exploit women alot simply by not letting women become independent. Still men n women need eachother for a family unit. Secondly, i connected the ghoongat thing with the naqab ban happening in some places in india and other countries. There was dialogue that chehra he tou insaan ki shanakht hota hai. And it was really looked down upon for someone who covered their face. Kind of hit the muslim community who wears naqab or burqa too. Other than these two things, the movie was beautiful.
