in my old class we used to have a noise monitor the teacher made labels; Playground Noise Table Talk Partner Talk Whisper Silent If any student thinks it's getting to loud they would go to the teachers desk where the tambourine was and shake to tell other students it's getting to loud x

You're organizational skills are amazing! Your kids are so lucky to have you! Our lesson plans for the week had to be in the computer by Monday morning and they were scrutinized by admin and our 'reading coach'. Sounds like you are luckier than I was with a better admin. Keep up the great work!

I'm so happy I found your channel!! I'm only twelve, but I had no idea what I wanted to be. I was going from a surgeon, to hair dresser, to baker/chef. Once I saw one of your videos, I know exactly what I want to be. Being a teacher hasn't really occurred to me since 3rd grade, but now I'm super excited! I know I have a long ways to go, but I still can't wait! I even want to teach second grade like you!

We did Me...Jane this week too. That has been a life saver as I came in on Oct. 23 this year and have literally had to start over. I am looking forward to your classroom hacks since I can use all the help I can get. I have spent the year running behind and I am looking forward to spring break......but I LOVE second grade and I LOVE teaching....so if I can get to the end of the year with out melting down....lol....I will have some summer days to get organized to do it all again!

One idea you could use with keeping extra small lunches in your classroom for kids who may forget to bring their lunch is lunchables! From what I've seen, they're not extremely expensive and if you have a small fridge in your classroom or can bring a small cooler it works great!

So by 6:30, I actually said to myself, "Well, Michelle is posting a new video in a half hour so I may as well just stay awake to watch!" Agree with them being part of my weekend routine! Kind of an unrelated question, but I'd love to know how you implement Rooted in Reading into your reading and writing instruction. We use Journeys (which I'm not a huge fan of), and I'm looking into trying it out next year! :)

I understand how you feel about behavior and parents. I have 20 students in Kindergarten. Eight of those twenty students have horrible behavior most days. When they are absent it is a totally different class. I need parents support more than ever before. I have 1 parent that her daughter has tantrums. If I try to get her to go to her seat, she flips out, I literally have to let her be for awhile. Her mom wants her moved out of my class, I love this little girl, I don't think that is the answer for her at all.

Hey Michelle! I realize this is super late to offer some advice for your back pain, so hopefully, this will help if it happens in the future! I'm a massage therapist and have also experienced similar pains to what you're describing, and it sounds like you've got a rib out of place. The pain that you get when you breathe or tried to lay on your back is an indicator of this. Hot/Ice packs are helpful, as is trying to pop in back in (though that can be painful) or go to the Chiropractor. Hope this helps! Keep up the great work!

That is the most frustrating thing when you're students would do something and the parents attack you. I know these are young kids, but talk about High schoolers. My teacher would be so frustrated whenever I came to visit her after college class saying students would do this and that. I believe her, but I also observe students who are doing things that they shouldn't be doing. Anyways I was a TA( Teacher's Assistance), I really wish that they had TA's where you are from because it helps teacher hand out paper's or watch the students if you are really busy. I know you are really really frustrated and you will get attack by parents, but you are doing an excellent job as a teacher. If you were the type of teacher who would let students just do what they want and end up hurting another student, then that means you don't love your job and don't care. But you're a really great teacher. Keep it up.

I was so tired this week too! No idea what it was, maybe my thyroid. I wouldn't get up until I actually had to. My 8th graders aren't doing their homework and it makes me feel like I'm wasting my time, like it's a little depressing when they don't do their homework. Hopefully next week will be better. Still crazy bc it is the week before state testing and I have an overnight field trip

I think the behaviors were off for everyone. My kids have had a rough week in the cafeteria. I was gone one afternoon and all but one lost time at recess. That's SO not typical. Not even sure who these little people in my room were this week. I had the angry parent email as well- blaming everyone else for her child's behavior choices. Yet the other parents I had to contact were super supportive. It just takes that one to make it or break it. Hoping next week is better for all of us!

Hi! Thanks for your vlogs. I enjoy learning from fellow educators and love to see how others do things in the classroom. 😁 you're doing a great job! I love all the containers and wish I could keep up with mine . I bought one of those 10 count drawer organizer and haven't gotten to labelling with pretty labels...I used Washi tape instead. Wanted to make a suggestion... prepping your oatmeal at night is super easy and makes for a quick, delicious breakfast. I eat oatmeal 3-4 days out of the week and it only takes me about 5 minutes to prep/cook. I usually eat it on my way to work since I put it in a mug.😉 you mentioned you got oatmeal at McDonald's (I think) and just thought to make a suggestion. 😊 thanks again for all your vlogs!! Happy April!
