Y'know, the quicker argument to get Rocky to eat waffles would've been: "See these little pockets in the grid? They hold more syrup."

I like how Mordecai is a cold blooded killer when he works but when he just sits down and hangs out he's oddly charming. In his own way at least. Also I like the idea that rocky is the only other person he hangs out with other than Viktor despite being polar opposites.

Seeing Rocky and Mordecai interact feels like watching the right and the left side of the brain collide with each other Edit: Holy crap, this is possibly my most liked comment i ever had! So thank you everyone!

What I've gathered: Pancakes make Rocky insane - because they are "dadaisms": no structural integrity, purely asymmetrical and a mess Waffles make Rocky enlightened - they are prestine, symmetrical and a fine piece of art within breakfast consumption ...or it might depend on the amount of syrup

Mordecai and Rocky would be pretty good friends, I think. They're both insane enough for their bullshit to make some sort of sense to each other, none of the other characters are really able to hold a full conversation with Rocky except him. It's actually kinda charming how they interact. I hope we'll see more of them together later in the story, if not just in more of these side comics.

This makes me wonder even more how Rocky is still alive.

How has Mordecai not shot Rocky several...thousand times by now? Or does he and Rocky just refuses to die, absorbing syrup out of every tree he's buried near to regenerate like some sort of maple vampire?

I don’t think these little side comics will ever get old.

Gotta love how Mordecai can deal with absolutely everything Rocky does when he rambles and gets a sugar high from all the syrup, because in essence it gives Mordecai someone to Verbally Joust with. But the moment it comes to dealing with Rocky eating with his mouth open and also blabbering creating a mess whichever way he's facing (towards Mordecai in this case) that's Mordecai's breaking point. Flawless.

The dichotomy between these two well-spoken gentlemen is so interesting to watch.

The Sophistry part is brilliantly laid out in dialogue. It is both absurd, entertaining and clever in its narration. Always enjoyed that one.

This will always be my favourite of the shorts. It just encapsulates Rocky and Mordecai's personalities so very PERFECTLY

I'm completely with Rocky's dadaistic approach to breakfast on this one. A meal cannot be a rationalized process. It is emotionally loaded, whether that means putting the pancakes on your face as a mask or having the joy of seeing the syrup fall at their center and flow off of the perimeter.

Mordecai and Rocky could easily fit in any of Lewis Carroll's Alice books.

Hope you don't mind me telling my own food-related story. For years, my family and I have frequented a Tex-Mex restaurant called "El Chaparral." There, you get the obligatory tortilla chips, which you can immerse in salsa dip, or, like me, immerse them in cheese dip. Some time ago, I discovered that one can get flower tortillas, dip your chips in cheese, place your chips on a tortilla and then wrap it up so you get what my family has since called a "chip and cheese burrito", which I have continued to make since then. My father, who's part of a scout troop, told me that he went on a camping trip with his scouts and told them about my "chip and cheese burrito'. They then tried it and said they were "the best thing ever". Do you feel that Rocky or Mordecai would enjoy this, if they tried it?
