The lack of human kindness for Gracie is appalling. How many of you have ever done what she has done or have experienced the pressure she has in competing? And no sitting on a couch watching tv doesn't count. Have some basic human kindness and decency.

I believe she is crying inside and just tries to hard to stay strong. Now, that could be narcisism which is not a bad thing but it can play hard games on us.

Emily White my comment is supporting Gracie, did you mean to reply to that? I think we agree on the inappropriate nature of the cruel comments that have been posted here. Emily, I was asking that first poster to remove my name in front of her post, I didn't mean for you to remove post. It is confusing how it displays. Feel free to post your support for Gracie!

I am amazed by crazy people who are saying Frank had a meltdown by: 1. Throwing Gracie under the bus by putting her jacket into a trash can in front of reporters and saying it's what Gracie wanted 2. Not telling Gracie to her face that he wasn't going to be her coach anymore 3. Telling the press this instead 4. Make sure to add in a callous comment about the legal paperwork. That's the important thing, not Gracie's vulnerable state, just to rub it in how much he doesn't care anymore

She didn't say anything wrong. She just said she would work hard for worlds if they did put her on the team and made it clear she would like an opportunity. She is not a brat, she has watched her world crumble around her these past few months. In the same situation would you be less frustrated? No you would not. We're not perfect people, so let's cut some slack for another imperfect person who is learning and growing each day.

Um, she is a spoiled brat who has rejected so many offers of help. I feel bad for people who aren't given opportunities. She has been given soooo many. She needs serious help. Her mental condition is more than "just a funk."
@jjkaykay8552
@jjkaykay8552 7 жыл бұрын
You know nothing of her mental condition, if it is worse her team should be handling it and it is none of our business. What I saw in this video, was a girl who was upset about watching her life slip away. In the same situation I know I would not have acted any differently, I might have had a break down, she held it together well. The past few months she has taken help from Alex and others who care about her. She's been given opportunities because she burst onto the scene with real talent and a great worth ethic. She was riding high on the excitement of everything for so long, now she's dealing with what it is like to have adversity and in the face of adversity many people crumble before they ever rebuild. No one who has met Gracie has ever had a bad word to say about her. Even her rivals have called her kind. She is not a spoiled brat. Tell me you have never had a break down over opposition, tell me how perfect you are.

I repeat what I said. You don't know this young woman, you don't skate, you don't have to answer silly questions after going through a rough time in public. Comments such as these are what is wrong, not her actions. And don't misquote her. Good luck on your next competition where I'm sure you will do no wrong, or your next interview. Sure you all we be perfect.

Raf is so right about American figure skating, the coaches need to cultivate more young talents. In Russia they have a ton of girls coming up, same thing in Japan. I watched Korean nationals for the first time this year, they have some very talented young girls coming up as well. Without young talent the US will be unable to match these countries in future competitions.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL "I would be a very wise pick for the world team."-Gracie Gold Keep telling yourself that. Also, don't compare yourself to Tuktamysheva. She has to contend with a federation that puts out 6-7 girls who would all beat Karen Chen at Russian nationals.

Her team keeps telling her that. She made huge strides between Zagreb and this event and it isn't unreasonable that she could make more. Especially with Carroll gone and if she goes back to Alex.

If Gracie believes she is one of the best skaters than how is any of her bad skating or the current "funk" that she's in have anything to do with her mental state? I'm so confused

I have competed at World Championships (not ice skating). I know what it is like to devote your life to something and have very few people understand what that really means - the sacrifices, the loneliness, the struggles. I also know the feelings of pain and anger when having to interact with people who are rude and full of judgement even thought they couldn't do 5% of what I can do. Gracie Gold makes it very rough to support and root for her. She appears ungrateful, spoiled, and entitled. She needs help - serious professional help - both off and off the ice. There are people far more deserving of our sympathy and empathy than Gracie. SO MANY people have tried to help her and she has continually resists. If people even knew the full extent of the situation, I think everyone would understand the frustrations that so many have about her.

Gracie has always been a gracious and kind girl. One who never turned away a fan and has always shown kindness to the people around her. Ashley, her rival, spoke very kind words about Gracie at Skate America. She is going through the worst season of her life, in the same situation I bet you would not be able to handle the pressure. Cut the girl some slack.

As the TSL people mentioned, this was an unfortunate time to catch her... I mean, she looked like she was about to burst into tears! I actually don't like her skating at all but you're absolutely correct that she's been lovely and gracious and, with Nationals crowning her death-spiral season, she seemed like she'd just reached a new level of fed-up... With herself, perhaps with Frank, and certainly with reporters asking her why why why are you skating so poorly... I feel so bad for her
@melliedu7818
@melliedu7818 7 жыл бұрын
I felt bad for her that she has to be asked so many questions right after a bad performance. She handled the questions well. But that doesn't cover the fact she's mentally weaker than her competitors. We audience doesn't need to experience these situations because we aren't elite skaters, so what we can handle or not is not the question here. Other elite skaters apparently handle it better than she does.

Getting really tired of the Gracie super fans being so reactive and triggered by people calling her out on her shitty entitled attitude. Can you imagine if for example Ashley Wagner acted like this? She would be crucified. I remember maybe in 2013 or 2014 Ashley got so much criticism just for being "edgy" the girl wasn't even doing anything. I'm not an Ashley fan nor do I dislike her but I definitely sensed the bias and she handled the questions about not being feminine or traditional enough or as liked as Gracie with grace and got her act together and started winning competitions. Also the people that are like "leave Gracie alone, you can't criticize you don't figure skate, can you do what she does?!" That is the dumbest argument ever. She's a public figure, in a public sport where how you carry yourself how you present yourself on and off the ice carries a lot of weight, it's part of what she signed up for and need I remind everyone she was the sweetheart for a long time so you can't just turn on the press when you don't like the feedback or it doesn't favor you, it's called having poise and maturity and RESILIENCE something a lot of people are lacking in today's society. This whole "poor Gracie" fan band wagon is what's going to keep her on the wrong track, sucking, failing. She needs to stop blaming people, her coach, etc and eat a slice of humble pie and get it together, all great althletes do when they face adversity. I guess time will tell if she is in fact a great athlete or if she was an overhyped, entitled skater who collapsed under pressure. You don't get a participation medal or a trophy for trying, that's why it's professional sports and not your local skating competition.

Sorry Gracie. You do not deserve that spot on the world team!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mirai, Mirai!!!! It seems that you're relying on someone else pulling out of a competition so you as the alternate can be sent, rather than you rightfully earning that spot!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks goodness it came from her own words!!! Just in case, please monitor all her competitions versus Wagner's and see so far who's ahead!!!! Wanna avoid the backlash in case Ashley places 4th and Mirai gets lucky again with a 3rd place finish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As of a few years ago, 4-6 place would go to 4CC while the Top 3 would go to World's. I thought this was very good as it gave the 4-6 spot competitors a chance to continue competing and perhaps win. Skaters like Angela Nikodinov, Jennifer Kirk, and Katy Taylor won 4CC titles when they placed 4th at Nationals and the Top 3 went to Worlds. I personally believe it could be very tiresome for the Top 3 to do Nationals, 4CC, and Worlds with overwhelming pressure. I though truthfully the initial team should have been Nagasu, Zhang, and Gold. Perhaps a 3rd place by either Nagasu or Zhang could have been possible-Gracie, well, we'll never know, but could have been..
