Will never be another Gracie Gold. What is so special to me about her is that she admittedly has so many insecurities and yet she still can go out on the ice and through her skating, overcome ALL those insecurities - Seemingly as though she is the star in her own fairytale. Its no wonder why she is such an inspiration to young girls. She has made an impact that won't ever go away.

The most underrated programme ever. If she skated it today she would get around 80! Im just in love this programme, my total fav of all times.
@ddjr6673 Жыл бұрын
Just rewatched this and you are *totally* correct. Perfect lutz edge, no URs - the difference between now and then was back then you could only get +3GOE as maximum now you can get +5GOE, that would certainly increase her score!
@Jeremy-wp4yh Жыл бұрын
@@ddjr6673 i think that was deliberate to make it seem as if current athletes are performing better, but actually it's just the GOE range that has changed.

Wakaba and Kostornaia (since they solidified the edge) can deliver a good Triple Lutz moment, but Wakaba is inconsistent and Kostornaia doesn't get the same length. Tuktamysheva has the lower body, but the upper body is stiff and it doesn't look as good.

im sad that Gracie withdrew her FS in her latest comp she was my fave skater 😥
@amyg41155 жыл бұрын
She should have withdrew from the short program as well and just waited until she was back in shape, back in competition form. Train, work on her mental health and not rush it. I honestly feel like it was incredibly foolish and careless of US Figure Skating Federation to assign her to a Grand Prix event (and the Cup of Russia at that) without checking in or having her do an audition skate to prove readiness to compete on the international circuit before agreeing to send her and allow her to fail on that level, that public ally. No triple jumps, and a program that appeared to have been slapped together last minute, and the most unflattering skate costume that only added the appearance of extra weight (which honestly in regular clothes doesn’t look as heavy-I think it was just a horribly unflattering, poorly fitting costume that accentuates all the wrong areas) and still clearly faltering confidence. Maybe it would have been wiser, if she truly wanted to start competing again, to start off slow, and compete in regional and sectional competitions first, Oran earlier skate group at Nationals until she has her skating skills and technical abilities back on par with the other competitors, because even if she had not fallen or singled her jumps, they were still heavy and nowhere near able to get the height and rotation needed to land them, and jumping singles and doubles like that would land her in last place even without falls, and that would devastate and embarrass her the same as landing last with her falls and popped jumps. Just was not a wise decision. Her making hasty decisions that will on;y set her progress and mental health battles back is, I suppose, understandable coming from her. Mental health crisis often lead to poorly thought out, poorly planned and questionable decision making, but her coaches and the skating federation should have known better, especially after witnessing her breakdown and knowing what she is battling. There is no excuse for them to allow or encourage her to jump back into the incredibly competitive blood bath that is the International Grand Prix circuit, at Rostelecom Cup with the top contenders jumping triple axels, triple axel triple toes, triple lutz triple loops, and incredibly complex choreography and transitions, and Gracie, in her condition, both mental and physical, did not stand a chance competing against that level of technical difficulty, and honestly, even program components and artistic impression. That was just so hard to watch, and listen to the Russian commentators not hold back in their disbelief and ridicule of her weight and her lack of fitness to compete. That was just asking for a set back in her recovery and further blow to her pride and self esteem. It actually made me cry and get so angry at the US Skating Officials who thought it would be a good idea and allowed it. Or worse, knew it WASN’T a good idea, but still allowed it! Pure foolishness from all involved....why did no one intervene and suggest starting off small in smaller regional competitions, so she could work on her fitness and physical and mental readiness, work on getting her jumps back and building confidence and putting together a properly laid out program that could be fine tuned and polished over multiple smaller scale competitions, working towards Nationals....what they did was akin to leading a lamb to slaughter. Do none of them truly care about Gracie and her well being and mental health? Because their decision making has me seriously questioning whether anyone around her had her best interest at heart!

How can figure skating be a part of the theatrical/ performing arts? Most theatrical arts are performed on a stage.
@gallantrycross9 жыл бұрын
The lighting. The lighting for the EX's is professional theatrical lighting. Guys and gals who design the lighting probably have MFA's in lighting design. Plus you can do ice shows on theatre stages--just put in the ice, it can be done in 24 hours.
