I'm realizing something new watching this 12 years later. She definitely and intententionally made the decision to have, "No matter gay, straight or bi, lesbian, transgender life," be the pinnacle of this performance. She's literally on the top of the stage. Belting these words. And has a church organ blasting. Like this performance feels like yesterday but this took place during the marriage equality era in the U.S. For that I am thankful. For Lady Gaga, I am thankful.

@Riky46468 ай бұрын
Yeah, she is a legend
@Zimzum936 ай бұрын
Not really. Like she encouraged a lot of people but she didn’t save an entire generation that’s a huge stretch to say that. I’m a queer person and an SA survivor who absolutely was NOT saved by lady Gaga nor was anyone else in my community who aren’t Gaga stans. I’m like the only even casual fan in my local queer community. She certainly touched a LARGE part of a generation and had a huge influence on music fashion and culture but she didn’t save a generation at all or anywhere near even if she did save a LOT of her fans
@imbadatdis3 ай бұрын
i wish when i was a teenager there was a person like her, but i was born too late, and I'm not seeing anyone would reach her high yet, really sad time we are at right now:(.
@mikopo88Ай бұрын
@@Zimzum93 Alright, let's just ignore everything Gaga did for the community just because you feel more special
@Zimzum93Ай бұрын
@@mikopo88 I used myself AND my immediate surround communit an example because it's a pretty standard real life sample of the generation in question and therefore a simple way to explain it. Its not about me feeling "more special" (I don't? Srsly wtf are you projecting?) and that's an absurd thing to read into my comment, and a deliberately incorrect way to interpret what I said. The point is, she didn't save a whole generation. I didn't say we should discount or disregard ANY of her achievements, support or activism - I quite explicitly praised her for all of that. All I said was that it's a fkn huuuuge over statement to claim she saved a whole generation when she didn't, and she's not even known by an entire generation let alone is an entire generation invested enough in her to feel saved by her. She certainly must have saved a LOT of lives, to the point where she is probably often told stiff like "having you as a role model growing up saved my life" but there's a whole massassssssiiiiivvveee chunk of that same generation of queer kids who didn't listen to her music, knew almost nothing about her or even actively disliked her who would state their role rodels as entirely different queer figures who were prominent at the time. She was massive, she saved lives, she advocated for the queer community and SA survivors and she deserves praise and thanks. But she didn't save a whole entire generation of people from otherwise meeting imminent death or a horrible fate. My point is that I think over exaggerating her impact and achievements with hyperbole is actually a huge disservice and discredit to what she has actually done. What she has done doesn't need to be wildly over exaggerated to still be insanely important and worthy of being part of history, and I think that it actually kind of shits on what she actually has achieved when people feel the need to over exaggerate it, it makes it sound like they don't view the straight plane facts as extraordinary enough on their own. there are billions of people on earth and most weren't impacted by her even one iota, not even a tiny bit, BUT she did make a lasting a history making impression on enough to be a global influence and she did save the lives of many of her die hard fans all over the world. Its that simple of a thing that im stating and you completely twisted my words because it wasn't just a comment saying "omfg yassss gaga is mother slaaaay" Like your brain can't comprehend an even slightly nuanced, reasonably stated balanced fact. I didn't say anything remotely hateful or shit on her in any way ffs you just can't read more than two sentences without getting overwhelmed and confused

@@terry2843 The truthful lyrics for the gaga song: born this way: The lyrics should be like this: there is a problem about who we are, we live with sinful nature. We all are called to REPENTANCE, to change our minds and our hearts. We all are called back HOME, but PRIDE keeps us far. So lets humble ourselves before GOD/CHRIST and lets answer to the calling. I have sinned and felled short in the glory of GOD and without repenting i am at the wrong path. How can we ask for love if there is none in us, we abuse ourselves and others daily. How can say we`re good if only do is sin, we telling lies, stealing lives, and destroying the light. Yea we were born a sinner, lifelong sinful nature, but now we all are called to have new birth. Don`t stay a sinner, become a new creature in Christ who promise to give you a warm heart. Yea we were born sinners, but in Christ can we be brand new, without a sin of any kind. Be you black or white, small or great, GOD through Christ calls all home. Are we gonna answer or is our hearts grown cold? Our eyes and ears have we closed? Are we all lost cases or is there still a chance that some of us shall be saved? If we could change our lives, would we took the chance? Or are we quick to say: “no, thanks, im good”?

Because yes she’s one of the best singers I’ve ever heard but ok personally I used to feel super connected and safe whenever I listened to her music as a kid. And now I’m older I now know I’m an enby lesbian but back then I had no clue. And yet some sub conscious part of my brain knew her music was going to be my safe/happy place for over the next 10+ yrs.
