I had a cat that always had choppy short whiskers. I found him as a kitten, I found a slightly older kitten that was so malnourished she was smaller than him. As she drank more milk and grew stronger she would play rough and knock his whiskers off.

One time i showed the fallen whisker to its previous owner...my cat proceeded to attack. He bit into it and impaled it in his gum. Then he proceeded to panic and run around ghe entire house. The whisker comically sticking out of his mouth. I had to pin him down when he finally reached qnd struggled on a bed. Once pinned down i pulled it out...and rhat was the last time i let him interact with his stuff
