I’ve never understood why they’ve decided to stay away from each other every time they’ve met. It’s clear to me they loved each other, and Ragnar didn’t love Aslaug and wasn’t best king. They really could just leave all that bs and spend their last days together as they should

because people don't always want one thing in life. love is not enough. we don't exist in a bubble where we can leave every thing and live on love with someone we love. this applies to any time and age. there has to be a purpose other than finding a partner

I think we all would be living entirely different lives, if love was the only reason we needed in life. Unfortunately its alot more complicated than that for everyone, anyone who's lived understands why it's not so easy. That was years before he died. He had that vision because he felt he had nothing left to lose and just wanted to die already, but Odin was telling him not yet. Same way the ravens tore the rope when he tried to hang himself. He went straight to Valhalla when he died.

@@UceyJuceyJey This exact scene expresses that he didn't. Floki also said that he saw his ghost many times. He waited for Lagertha but he also denied valhalla entirely. Them turning into dust doesn't really scream transcendence but rather utter oblivion and returning to the earth.

dont get me wrong I love that Lagartha stayed true to Ragnar til the end. Personally I think they were truly made for 1 another. However when she left him as a woman I respected that. She kept her dignity & decided not to be w him after he cheated on her then embarrassed her by asking her to be ok w it & allow him to have any wife & act like sister wives, as if nothing happened. I didnt like her at 1st but I grew to respect her. I wish she was able to move on. Yes they belonged w together but she deserved to not just move on but find another like he did. He didnt just commit the ultimate betrayal by cheating on his wife & getting another woman preg. I dont even blame him for wanting to help the other woman & take care of his kid. It was the further humiliation to blame it all on her having a miscarriage & saying her hurt & needed a son even if it wasn’t from her. As if she didn’t hurt even more & want another son. If she got pregnant w another mans baby & asked him if she could have a 2nd husband & be 1 happy family he’d prob murder her. I cant even believe he’d think she’d be ok w that.
