I have a couple questions: Why is there 50 cars on Front rd? in the middle of the fire, they couldn't get out...really? That road can clear out in 2 minutes. Why is there no footage of firetrucks at all that night?

This really breaks my heart that was such a beautiful area. When I was married, me and my ex-husband would go out there every other summer as a family with my daughter. We first started going out there when my daughter was five she's 28 now. But we would go out there several times every other summer and we always went to that same area lahana Village in Kaanapali. We would always stay at the Kaanapali Villas down the street and this is the area that everybody spends the day at. Bubba Gump's was our favorite restaurant the Maui General Store I bought my souvenirs at. It's heartbreaking to think it's all gone the elementary school it's gone. My prayers go out to people Maui I'm glad to hear the Banyan tree is still there..

I lived through the Esperensa and Pioneer Town fires. I get it. It's a awful way to die. I remember calling my partner saying I was not going to make it and got cut off. I was lucky, I got off the mountain. I bet in many of those cars are victims.

The roads are closed and the harbor is burned out. the boats are burned to the waterline. Those of us who live on the mainland can not fully comprehend the totality of loss. All the food markets and food distribution centers near there are burned to ash, not even safe to get to the ocean. All the boats ... burned to the waterline, no escape, your home foods gone, all local foods in the ground or in storage GONE. All your meds you could not run out with turned to ash. no boats or docks left. fires keeping rescue from the air a dream. Words fail us. Imagine finding your address, and all your pets. No one who can tell you it will be better.

Where's the fire trucks and fire fighters?

Amazing that tourists are still going to Maui to enjoy their vacations in unaffected areas of Maui while residents struggle to deal with the loss of homes, jobs, and lives. Can’t let death and destruction get in the way of a nice vacation now can we? 😩😖

I had visited this quaint town with my husband several times. We were always so excited to go back. I’m 32. I’ve been to Maui 14 times. Lahaina the same amount. Point is this isn’t my home even though I feel like it is one. It’s the people that have roots there that I am devastated for. The ones who don’t want my ass there. The ones that don’t care that I’m there. All of you are Ohana to me whether you accept it or not. I will see you all soon and i will put it work on my 15th trip to help a new Lahaina transform. I love the people of Maui. The ones that don’t like me even. Maui made me the man I am today, and to all you Maui natives…. Mahalo for teaching me what it means to be cultured. My heart breaks not only for the memories I have in Lahaina since I was a child, and up till just last year. I had no idea that when I left I’d never see Lahaina again… That fire can’t destroy the Aloha that is in your DNA. Tomorrow will be better than today. And so on. Mahalo Maui. 🫶🏻

What I am amazed about are the hundreds of burned out cars abandoned and not one with any doors open. Fleeing in a panic mode should have left some doors open. Are we to assume they stayed in their vehicles and were consumed? Forensic evidence should tell us if any of that info will be forthcoming. And with all of the video, we didn’t see any search and rescue day after anywhere?

So they had to divert everyone to drive up to the Hills through dirt plantation roads in order to get to the next town Where there is shelter.
