You get what you pay for. Hire at low wages you get low skilled workers. Duh. Don't be cheap and you get highly skilled workers. I won't touch a single tool for less than $100 per hour. But I've got 25 years of experience, 60k in tools, and a truck that cost 70k new.

It really is a problem. Blue collar people are becoming more and more valuable as that happens. We have 1 person coming in for every 5 people leaving the trades for one reason or another.

@@noblesolidservice1596 I will say after watching a few shorts and stuff; bless you. Especially that recent one with the lads cutting into foundation with proper PPE. I recently walked out of a remodeling company after day two because of zero PPE whatsoever and being given a hard time for not wanting to go on a roof without a harness. My one uncle almost died doing that in the 90s, my other uncle spent 3/4 of his life with titanium rods in his back because of falling off a ranch roof, and an old family friend died falling off one without a harness. That’s the one thing I don’t mess around with is roofs without safety gear, and exactly why I intentionally joined what I thought was only a kitchen/bath remodeling place but ended up silently being a full reno company for a slumlord in town. Was awesome to see somebody respecting safety. If I lived in your region I’d absolutely be using you guys, keep it up.

I jumped into it head first at the age of 25. 45 now but it’s a weird sub contractor/service business. I’m still an owner operator with one crane/boom pump 20 years later. It’s a nice rig but it’s a tough business to expand. My machine is $600k so it’s expensive to expand. I started as an owner operator of a drag line concrete pump had multiple machines at one time with employees now back to just me after a revolving door of employees post 2020 I had enough sold those machines and run my nice boom solo. I need to ramp up my game though and push harder again.

Wow just subscribed. Love the transparency on Net vs Gross when he explained his earnings. I can easily say I make $xxx,xxx.00 when in reality I make a quarter of what I actually gross. Content providers on social media bug me when they inflate the reality of being an entrepreneur as if we’re all millionaires. Maybe my net worth but in liquidity I may as well be an employee for one of my competitors 😂

Here's a few facts for anyone that cares: Re: real life: Only 230,000 Americans who work in any capacity earn more than $1 Million per year. That's a fact and backed up by actual government data (if anyone bothered to look) As a matter of fact less than 300,000 Americans working in an capacity earn more than $500K per year. People need to stop chasing the liars, the posers, the salespeople and anyone else who outright lie to them about how "Millions of people" are earning millions of dollars. It's bullshit and the government has the actual data. The first 50% of all Americans working earn.....$45K per year or less. These are important numbers and people should embrace them as a way to be realistic about their goals and move past a level of mediocrity that is now commonplace here in the USA. Secondly regarding KZfaq: A "content creator" needs to have 150,000 views per day, 365 days per year to gross $100K per year with KZfaq. Then Google takes their 45% cut. Then (because you are not employed by KZfaq) you have to pay your 15% SE tax, then your regular tax rates of Federal and state taxes (if applicable in your state). After all that you're basically left with $35K dollars net. This is why there are 100's of thousands of jobs available at fast food establishments, warehouses, etc. Why work when you can settle into a life of mediocrity by making videos? Of course what the majority of people don't realize: Interest in someone or their so called "content" is fickle and can wane very quickly like a 22 year old slut on OnlyFans who suddenly wakes up at 30, much fatter, sagging face and suddenly they are back to being irrelevant with no real prospects for the future.

Any tradesman worth his salt doesn’t have a problem getting work. My problem is having TOO much work so I have to actively turn down jobs simply because I can’t spread myself thinner and I refuse to hire random guys. I have a professional standard that I demand of myself and in 20 years I’ve only found of handful of talented guys with the same work ethic and quality standards.

What he's doing is being a general contractor and subbing the work out and probably using some form of autocad to figure out labor and materials then adding the profit margin he wants after cost is figured

Our clientele are not focused on the price directly but rather the experience they will receive and would rather pay someone to manage their long complicated remodeling project and have someone who is in charge of managing it rather then dealing with a bunch of roughneck contractors who organizes a team and gets them their desired outcome. We are competing on speed and convenience.

Did you get any loans? Did you manage to get a lead (from a realtor) and then did you begin hiring a team with that promised income? Did you need a general contractors license in order to start? Aside from having general knowledge of building/ tools, would you say people need to know in depth how to build a house in order to do this business? Also, remodeling is not scalable and he should take this publicly traded idea behind the shed and not waste anymore money thinking about it. If you want to get huge, focus on new homes or commercial. Otherwise, make a good living and sell the company. Asking 10M when your SDE is 200k and you have no equipment to speak of and few employees is the same level of nuts. You will be lucky to get 3 turns on a remodeling company and probably will have to sell to an employee and take a second.

He said they charge anywhere from 100 to 140,000 for kitchen. Who the hell would pay that much to have them come in and put a kitchen in. That’s just crazy.

Seems like It’s market specific based on everyone’s reaction. Also most contractors aren’t charging enough to stay in business long enough or to actually service their clients appropriately. To put the numbers into perspective we can’t even buy the cabinets around here for less then 20k

“Undercutting” doesn’t matter at all to him at this point. They ARE the premier remodeler in his city. He has no desire to be the more affordable guy. Everyone will come in cheaper than him. He brings a FARRRR cleaner approach and business management side to the game.

please answer my these 2 questions, 1- You said an average profit margins are 20% but Kyle is getting 40%, are you talking about net margins that owner take home ?? 2- And does kitchen remodeling cost $140,000, ??

Many of these high end kitchens can cost way more than 150,000. That's not to say that most kitchens cost $150,000. How many high-end appliances are 30 to 50,000. High end custom cabinets can be from 50 to over $100,000 by themselves there are many variables and when these high-end jobs are performed they're making probably 40%

average cost over runs/change orders are 20%. if you stay under 20% it's good. but to tell a client no over runs is BS. sorry

I should clarify- zero builder generated change orders due to not doing our homework. The majority of change orders can be avoided with an extensive pre construction process.

I’m telling you. The only way to make money in residential remodeling is in high income areas. Regular folks don’t have any money to pay you. Business to business is a better model.

Affluent homeowners do. It varies market to market and I’m not even in the most high end market in my area (Seattle) and it’s still the norm. If you want some context check out the cost vs value report. It compiles data from 1000s of remodeling projects and breaks the. Up into categories for each location and provides averages for each type of project. It’s the most unbiased realistic model for residential construction projects I have seen.

When it comes to starting a business, there are two schools of thought to it: you can be a sissy and just let it be a side hustle until you feel comfortable with going further into it (This is most people and it's fine. No one knows everything about business right off the bat.), or you can just go balls to the wall and dive head on into the business(es) and bullrush everything to build the empire of your dreams (this is fine too, but always remember to pay the IRS on time or you will have the government breathing down your neck).

This guy appears to be poor in competency in hands onskills and is successful just based on connection placement in society. He features a jobsite in his neighborhood. Im quite sure he overcharges custo ers in orderto pay talented hands on workers fairly competitive wage a long with an equal pay fir himself just cause of his connections. There are many talented workers who are blocked from clie ts who will pay for their service just to protect others who in same industry but get business due to connections because of manmadesegments

This interview is ridiculous and filled with rhetoric jargon. The remodeling business is very hard because the competition is often excellent. 2nd, the previous construction is wrought with issues that takes a high quality craftsman to remediate. These skilled workers are hard to find & keep since they're starting their own successful businesses.
