LaisDCC Stay Alive/Keep Alive Install in a Rapido GMD1 with ESU LokSound

Keep alive/Stay alive capacitors, they're nice and they work. However they take up an extra function on ESU's decoder and the ESU Lokprogrammer fails unless you remove them. Would I personally use them? No.

Did you have to change any CVs to get the ESU decoder to work or charge the keep alive? I've seen where some have said you have to chance some CVs. Thanks

Thanks for sharing this. I thought (through everything I have seen online), that you must use a 3 wire stay alive with ESU decoders. However, your video proves that the LaisDcc 2 wire works fine. Do you have any comments regarding the suggested requirement for a 3 wire say alive?

Would you say it is easy, quick, inexpensive and compact enough to make your own Stay Alives, or it is worth purchasintgthe Lais Stayin-Alive units?

I have never made my own. I personally think it isn't necessary unless you have super short wheelbase equipment.

@@DBRXCustomRailroadModels I have a few European locos that are short and one with sensitive pickups. I think this stayalive will work nicely... I have the Rapido version of the loco you worked on and it runs flawlessly on layout, so no ned on mine! Thanks for the great video!

do you need to fit a Diode and Resistor with the LaisDcc stay alive or are they ok to fit as they are'
