Came across this by accident and so pleased I did, really enjoyed this, so just subscribed. I did my first wildcamp last month at Angle Tarn and really enjoyed the experience and testing myself at 62. The bivi looked brilliant and I am looking at getting one for my next wildcamp, as I am a fairweather camper, so should be ideal for me. I take it you parked at Hartsop, which is where I parked when I hiked up High Street about 10 weeks ago. Thanks for sharing you wildcamp, I think I am really going to enjoy your channel. Cheers Alan

Paul, brilliant vid. Thank you :) I hear this cold at night "thing" from so many KZfaqrs. I cannot recommend / emphasise enough: "British Army Softies" - jacket & trousers. In the middle of winter, I use a summer sleeping bag supplemented with both the Army "softie" jacket & trousers. Instantly turns a summer bag into a winter bag !! About £20ish on Ebay. Also brilliant as an extra jacket for walking. I promise you will never be cold again. All the best Alan

Cold weekend, we did not have any snow up at Malham Tarn over the bank holiday but it was sodding freezing with the wind and we had hail as well. +Yorkie263 glad you enjoyed Malham. I was up there last year and loved it. The manufacturer don't claim temperatures that low to be fair... I was going of what some of the guys in the USA stated. It did the job although several layers were needed. Cheers

Paul. Love your reviews especially the not so stealthy Decathlon job🤣🤣.In your opinion which tents got the most room? Akto or Soulo? I've seen the stats but as you've got both.. enlighten me buddy👍. I've got the soulo already(red) the Akto now seems a good prospect, practically ... all the best buddy👍🤘🥾🥾
@matthiasschnapka6498
@matthiasschnapka6498 4 жыл бұрын
The Soulo has definitely more space inside, but the trunk of the akto is a bit larger on the opposite! Soulo has a more comfortable inside high as well, and is MUCH MUCH MORE stable in very high winds ( Orkans) and it packs smaller also, cause the akto has this two small carbonfiber poles on each side ( head and foot end), what prevents from stuffing the akto to tightly! I was one of the first customer in germany who bought the Soulo in 2008, when it was coming into the market......bought it since that date 3times, cause I like to flip my equipment for each large trek, but couldn't fine anything better over the Soulo in all this years. If the bigger weight of the Soulo is no deal breaker for you, go for the Soulo. In deep Winter Conditions, with a much more fluffy sleepingbag and clothing, I prefere the Jannu over the Soulo and if area for setting up the tent is not squeezing or difficult for stacking out properly , the Nammatj 2 is a very good alternative over the Jannu as well. To reduce the weight, look out for a set of realy high quali Carbonfiber Poles and Carbonfiber stacks, combined with ab2nd set of titanium nails for rock hard grounds. Will save you around 1 lbs. of weight.in total.....but increase the total price of the tent quit badly as well......but then you'll have a real killer combination!

Wow thank you kindly for this marvelous video! I have a question, as someone who lives outside of UK (on the other side of the globe 😜) who plans on making a trip here, what's the BEST/EFFECTIVE way of coming to this district? Like which city do I need to travel to first, and then how to I transport myself down here? This may sound like a stupid question I apologise, but I'm just trying to see in my mind now as I plan how I can make it possible as a solo traveler very new to all this ;) Much appreciation for your videos and time✌

Hello. thank you for watching my videos from overseas. The Lake District is beautiful and I'm sure you'll love it. I'm not an expert on the best way to travel here by air but The Lake District is served by a number of airports however Manchester is the most convenient airport to fly into for quick access the Lakes. There is a train service from Manchester airport along theWest Coast Main line to Oxenholme, Penrith and Carlisle. Hope this helps a little. Best wishes

+Woodland Camp and Craft autoplay can take over your life Kev 😁. I can lose hours. The escape bivi is a great piece of kit. I've used is few times now including the GNBC at Edale. It weighs nothing and keeps you warm. With good layers I got down to freezing. I take mine on every trip now just in case. It's not the roomiest though I need to lose a few pounds to be able to move about a lot. But it does the job for me. ATB Paul

@PaulMessner
@PaulMessner 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Pen man. Thanks for watching and commenting. I've used the tent in all weather and I would definitely trust it with anything that the UK can throw at it. It's incredibly well made and tough. It is however expensive. I do recommend the Akto but not at the full £500 plus price tag. I would recommend buying a used one. They go for 300 to 350 and most are in mint condition. A much better deal. The Akto does have condensation issues but most tents do in certain conditions. This can be controlled with good venting and a wipe before packing away. 👍
