If you're watching this, you probably already know Lake Oswego is a great place to live. But what are some of the pros people haven't heard of and are there any cons? We cover that in this video from Iron City Park in Lake Oswego.
Some pros of living in Lake Oswego, Oregon include: High-quality schools: Lake Oswego is known for its excellent public schools, which consistently rank among the best in the state.
Safe neighborhoods: Lake Oswego is considered a safe place to live, with low crime rates and a strong sense of community.
Access to recreational opportunities: The city is situated on Oswego Lake, which offers opportunities for boating, swimming, and fishing, as well as several parks and recreational areas throughout the city.
Upscale lifestyle: Lake Oswego is considered an upscale suburb of Portland, with a high median home price, elegant downtown area and well-maintained homes.
Access to amenities: Lake Oswego has a variety of shops, restaurants, and services, as well as a library, community center and a ice skating rink.
Some cons of living in Lake Oswego, Oregon include: High cost of living: The median home price in Lake Oswego is relatively high compared to other areas in the region, which can make it more difficult for first-time home buyers to afford.
Limited public transportation: Lake Oswego is not as well-connected to Portland and other nearby cities by public transportation, which can make it more difficult for people to commute to work or other destinations.
Traffic congestion: Lake Oswego is situated along a major highway, which can lead to traffic congestion during peak hours.

I’m a wheelchair user, so I’m always eager to hear about paved trails! It would be extremely helpful when you mention them if you could also say something about how steep they are. Unfortunately, most of the paved trails I’ve been on in Lake Oswego have sections that are way too steep for me, usually making the whole trail unusable (depending on where the steep parts are). However, there’s a loop at Tryon Creek State Park that I used to be able to manage when I was stronger. It’s not very long, but it’s lovely, and it has two very nice overlooks. I definitely recommend that one. Also, some may want to know that there was a resolution passed in Nov. 2021 that forbids new hard-surface trails in Lake Oswego parks. The people who pushed for it claimed that soft-surface trails are wheelchair accessible, but that certainly is not true for me or for any other manual wheelchair users I know, particularly when the trail isn’t flat. I think existing hard-surface trails will continue to be maintained, but I was l devastated to learn that no new Lake Oswego trails will be truly wheelchair accessible.

The freight train runs through Lake Oswego five times a day on average, including very late at night and very early in the morning (like 3 or 4 am). People who live near the track are particularly bothered by the horn. I can hear it up in Mountain Park, but it isn’t loud there. Hope that helps! 🚂

Is the commute from here to Beaverton bad during rush hour?

It's not bad from LO. Probably just over 20 minutes, depending on where in Beaverton you're going. You'll hit traffic on 217 just past I 5 that will be bumper to bumper but you only have about 4 - 5 miles of that.

@@kadalkol Right about 30 minutes from downtown LO. Could be a difference of 10 minutes depending on where in LO. Walker rd will have congestion. Not a terrible commute.
