The truth is that Lakorn Khol has only recently been around, approximately 100 years old, ( Thai Khon has a record from Simon de la Loubere, the French ambassador. During the time of King Narai, it was approximately 370 years old.) and he was learned from Thai and Lao people along the border. Cambodia asked a group of Thai Khon teachers to help teach them, but they were not able to teach them all. They were only able to perform like this, but today's Cambodians claim that it is the origin of the Ramayana. 😊

In Indonesia there is also a Ramayana ballet performed each month in the Hindu temple of Prambanan Jogya. Everybody in Indonesia knows that Ramayana originated from India, as it was a Hindu legend just like the Maha bharata, so if we heard someone saying Ramayana originated in Thailand he will be laughed at and will be deemed as a person who knows nothing about Hindu culture or history.. Just remember that Thailand is a Buddhist land not a Hindu land, unlike Indonesia 600 years ago is Hindu, before the Islam came

@ Have you misunderstood something? Has anyone told you that the Ramayana originates from Thailand or are you trying to interpret it as originating from Indonesia? You are no different from Cambodians who like to claim everything as their own. But Thailand confirms that it has received cultural influence from India.

In ancient time, Thai cultures & Art got influenced from India religion and we adapted and developed. Cambodia was colonized by Thai for over 400 years. Thai traditions were that all colonized countries must send princes to live in the palace as hostages and follow Thai rules along the way learn Thai culture, especially one of Khmer prince “Narodom”, he loved Thai culture. When he returned to Khmer, he started to build Thai style structures. The dance that you saw on the video, UNESCO asked us, Thai people, to teach Khmer how to dance. Fortunately Thai Khon dance is a sacred tradition, the Thai teachers were only teaching Khmer some part due to UNESCO request.

The Thai Ramakien is translated from the Indian Ramayana. Let's compose additional chapters into poems. When playing Khon, poetry is also sung. It's a story telling. This is different from Cambodia which claims to be the owner of Khon and the owner of Ramayana. But requested UNESCO to have Thailand send people to help restore its own Khon. Because the script for the Khon dance is incomplete. (Thailand in the past sent Khon teachers to teach in Cambodia when it was still a Thai colony. But Thailand doesn't teach everything. Teach only the outer shell Thai ancestors probably knew that there would be claims in the future.)

Cambodia has Khon drama because it was a Thai colony. There were Thai government officials who led the Khon performances and taught them to the Khmer people. In the end, the Khmer slave made a claim. They also pretend to claim that the origins come from Cambodia.

The Cambodian video only shows the monkey fighting part of the Ramayana legend, whereas the Thai video shows the Rama King and Sinta Queen sitting..To compare it both Cambodia and Thai should show the Same part of the Ramayana legend, so spectators could compare which one is the best or the most showing the essence of the legend !!

There is clear evidence. If you want to know, go ask the Khmer palace. The records of the Khmer dynasty are clear. The Khmer Royal Palace sent a letter asking the Thai Royal Palace to teach Khon and dance. There are also photos of Thai teachers, names listed as well. Even French records from 400-450 years old clearly record Siamese dancing, singing, and Khon. Even the records of the Chinese group still exist. Chinese people still say that Khmer has no dancing. Khmer receives from all Thai kings! Khmer likes to claim Thai culture. Even the Thai dress is impersonated but doesn't know how to weave.😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅

Cambodia was colonized by Siam for 500yrs ang got influenced from Siam Loyal families of Khmer(Cambodia) had been raised up by those kings of SIAM. They brought up all Thai art and culture when returned to Cambodia. Our king also built up temple and palace in Thai art to loyal families of Khmer as well.
