Lambing 2024 has been going really well, until today. We had a lamb who is experiencing respiratory issues, this video is about her first few hours in the world, and the things we did to try to help her.
We are always learning with every experience, and we learned a lot from this one.

Thank you so much for sharing! We have a very small flock of Shetlands and we have two new lambs and one ewe due in late May. It’s so helpful to see what to do in an emergency situation. It often takes a good bit of time for the vet to get to the farm so knowing what to do in the mean time is important. Lambing isn’t always easy!

Like everyone else, I am grateful to you for sharing this even though it is distressing for the poor lamb to be struggling. You are both so amazing and I found the whole thing so interesting. I know you were upset and exhausted, but I’m hoping to hear the little ewe is doing well soon… 🤞🏽

You should look into getting a lamb resuscitator for your kit. One end is an aspirator that sucks fluid out of the lungs, and the other end will push air into the lungs. I've seen other sheep youtubers use it with great results.
