In this video we check in with the rams that are the sires to all these lovely lambs.
Also, attempt to do a frolic, but the lambs and moms are still learning about the great big world and not quite ready to move to the next level of a full fledged frolic. I see one in the very near future!
Thank you for your support of our channel, I appreciate it!

The lambs agility and strength and speed at such an early age never ceases to amaze me. And it's so fun to see their individual personalities showing so clearly.

It is remarkable isn't it? We were watching Paulina's ram last night - he struts around like he is in the show ring with his little chest stuck out - reminds me of those Lipizzaner stallions

It is one of the best parts of lambing! Doesn't take them long at all to lose the separation anxiety - but for the first time you can really see the connection they have to mom.

Thank you! And I love your name, do you get a lot of Mr Darcy jokes? I actually named a ewe after Lizzy when I did a Jane Austen year of names. I thought of that as I was packing your recent order, thank you very much for your support!

Would enjoy going for a walk around the pond. You have an amazing setup for lambing. My goodness. Loving the time in the barn with ewes and lambs. And that moorit ewe lamb is perfect, hope her fleece lives up to her potential. So glad utube suggested your channel. 💕🐑🌝👏🏼

OK it is on the docket! I think I'll halter one of my girls and take the walk with them - I am glad KZfaq suggested us also! I'm posting a really good lamb video today, just them playing in the barn - it is so uplifting - I can't stop watching it!

Hi Jenny. I am a new Shepherdess in New Zealand. I have a starter flock of gotland, leicester longwool, and teeswater. I am also learning to spin and weave. FYI (I love my Majacraft Suzie wheel). I am learning a lot from your channel. Thank you. I love your calm and caring interactions with your sheep.

Hi Mandy! Welcome to the channel - thank you for commenting and introducing yourself - love your starter flock - sounds like a nice variety of breeds! Do you share photos of your farm on any social media? Would love to see your sheep. Good luck with your fiber crafting - I absolutely love working with the wool from my own sheep - you really get to connect at a deep level when handling their wool.

I'd love a walk around the pond when you find some time, please! I'm interested in Shetlands (someday) for conservation grazing as much as their wool, so I'm living vicariously through you- and using the frolic videos to persuade my partner that this is a good idea 😆 Marty and the rams are so handsome!

I got my Rose from you in i believe 2022. I brought my kids and mom up with me to the farm to shop. Well i was watching your video and told my daughter we had met you in person and she was shocked. "In real life?!?!" She asked. Yes honey. In real life. It was cute.

Oh my gosh, thank you! Good luck with your starter flock, and clever girl you to eschew the rams. Had to google "loafing shed", guess it is a horse term? Rich just built it, back in 2007. I'll ask him if he got the plans from anywhere, but my guess is he just made it. Let me know if you have any quesitons or would like to see any particular content, always looking for new ideas for videos.

So fun to watch the lambs bounce around. Why is it that some of ewes wool looks really bare in spots? It seems to be the white mama ewes. You may have said the reason and I didn’t catch it. ❤
@SoftShetlandWool

Hi Kristie - usually when I roo the bred ewes, the wool comes off right at the skin - so they have bare patches until their wool grows back.

Hi Pat - Yes, I decided in the fall that if I wasn't using them, they needed to go. I wasn't in any mood to tend 3 separate ram pens over the winter- lamb, yearling and an adult pen. Not looking forward to the decisions I'll need to make this fall, too many nice rams!!!

Lovely frolicking! Still love Mabel’s little (not so little) one! I find all their behaviors so interesting … I noticed a couple of birds flying about…do you have many nesting in the barn? Do they cause any problems?
@SoftShetlandWool
@SoftShetlandWool 12 күн бұрын
Well Beverley - those are Starlings. Brought over from the UK by some idiot in the 1800's who I would love to have a chat with...They are a nuisance - pooping everywhere and noisy. And they dive bomb me when I come in the barn. I was able to get rid of the barn swallows cause their nests were easy to find and knock down, but the starlings make their nests in the soffits where I can't get at them. Buggers.

Have you ever had a Ewe try to steal a lamb after they have had their own, or a ewe who wasn’t breed try to steal a new lamb?
@SoftShetlandWool
@SoftShetlandWool 12 күн бұрын
We never had a ewe steal lambs after she had lambs of her own. I did have an unbred ewe clean off a lamb one year and the mother rejected her. From then on, bred ewes were kept separate from the balance of the flock until lambing was finished.

you noted in a previous video that mom-daughter pairs often continue to hangout even after the "lamb" period is over; is this also the case with twin sisters? do they retain a relationship?
@SoftShetlandWool

Twins only stick together if they are with mom - otherwise they don't really have a bond.
