After being laid off from my job during Covid I spent the time laying floor in my entire townhouse. By the time I reached my 3rd room I was ready to go pro. Everything you said in this video is spot on including the small shrapnel comment. I just completed 2 bathrooms in another project last month in a new home. Glad you’re back..

No problem, glad I could help! For a bathroom make sure to use a vinyl plank, the installation process is basically the same. Good luck on your projects

I want to do this so bad but our condo is old and I know the floors won’t be level. I’d have to do the self leveling step you mentioned. Which I’m not going to attempt. Love the way you explain things though! Definitely a visual learner and love your videos 😊

Too bad, it does add another step of complexity to it, that's for sure. I may be able to show that step in the future when I get my place as I'm expecting very uneven floors. I'm glad you enjoyed the rest of it tho! I'm visual myself as well!

My aunt's house in GC has that exact same flooring that was underneath your carpet. Typical Cairns.

One thing you need to be careful of is expansion and contraction. That is what the spacers are for ;o) Also check the maximum length the manufacturer states. It is a good idea to open your packs up when you get them home so you can check the pattern and colour matches and when installing you get to chose complimentary boards rather than just leaving it to luck. This can make or break a floor as it can hi-light the joints between the boards. A vac is a good tool to have on hand to make sure you have no scraggly bits on the tongue and grooves. The way flooring companies work (in the UK at least) is they buy a couple of shipping containers worth of boards from a manufacturer. The manufacturer then retools and if you buy the last of them you will never get more. Nor will you be able to replace if it gets damaged so buying extra is a good plan (especially if the store does returns) and keep a few boards just in case! ;o)

All of that is very true. All the little things to watch out for depending on where you live and your access to it, never knew that stuff but it makes sense
