I see this as more a stresser and cause of target panic. Squeeze until you get a click, and then talk yourself through the fact the release hasn't gone off, Oh, I can't let down, still hasn't gone off, so just punch it and send it, no need to aim and focus on P.O.I. Just get a good hinge or resistance release and set it up right. Pull through a shot, no punching, no trigger manipulation.
@jwild53608 ай бұрын
That was my thoughts. I bought one and it’s complete opposite. It’s less anxious than a hinge with a clicker. Idk why I’ve always shot hinges mostly and thumb button from time to time but it’s surprisingly different than I thought it would be on shot process.

I love my Onnex C. Just shoot one before y'all hate man. Joel is a smart guy, a whole bunch of hate on him for what!? Growin the sport and making better, more accurate archers and shooters in general? Make it make sense!
@Nowhy Жыл бұрын
Hate? I can see why someone would see the whole system aspect as a kind of crux, that some use to overcome their anxiety - kinda like a stoic philosophy that has issues when it comes to the feeling aspect behind making any decision (to shoot a bow for instance, time and time again). Maybe look at some videos why some criticize stoicism in general.. Don't forget, the bow shoots the arrow and the arrow always hits its target - the responsibility of using one's power to load the bow and then release it, is where the human comes in (minus building and maintaining the tools and what not)...

I have a Scott Pursuit and love it, but I’m ready to upgrade to a softer release. The Scott is prefect for learning how to use a thumb button but is a little stiff. I want either this or the UV thumb. Are either of them wrist strap compatible? I’m just more comfortable with it. PS: this gave me major 90’s infomercial vibes. I loved every second. Just to confirm… sounds like Joel is saying not to use this as a “tension” activated break, and actually more of a controlled push of the thumb button? I guess my question is what’s the difference between punching the trigger and this method?
@pennyontrack Жыл бұрын
Yes that is what he is saying. At 7:00 he explains why it’s not a trigger punch
@the_sharp_carpenter Жыл бұрын
It's more like precision rifle shooting, gradually increase pressure on the trigger till it goes off, without adding extra tension on the string.
@tannerharris148311 ай бұрын
The most accurate way to shoot any release is to just press or rotate the release. However, people pull and pull and pull because they don’t have the ability to shoot accurately with single digit manipulation. So whether it’s a hinge or thumb they have to pull to make it fire because if they don’t then they will punch.
@jacklancaster48114 ай бұрын
I’ve just bought the standard thumb no click I’ve had many releases with clicks and for me they do nothing but anticipate a shot I wait for that click then proceed to take the shot as it an anxious thing for me really ruins most my shots, not only that it will spook animals if it’s loud enough keep the target stuff for home. It’s meant to be a surprise shot not a surprise if your brains waiting for a click its commanded I’ve had target panic worse then many I panic at the release it’s nothing to do with pin float it’s the release part I’ve shot the lot but a light trigger and a steady thumb movement gives me that shot I didn’t know happened do what works for you people will end up with target panic trying to fix things that don’t need fixing..

For years release companies were competing who makes the crispest zero travel button. Now they're adding a click that needs a full millimeter to trigger. Seems we're going in circles. Btw... You can do this without a click. Just keep your thumb behind the button while you're "aiming", bring it around when you're ready to execute, and... execute.
@eclipsearchery9387 Жыл бұрын
You kinda missed the point ;)
@LancasterArcherySupply Жыл бұрын
For many people having some feedback during that execution process is helpful, and helps eliminate the accidental punch when you decide to start moving the button.
@5jjt11 ай бұрын
I've heard a thumb or finger release will cause the other hand's thumb or finger to make the same gesture as the firing hand, thus result in torque. Is this an overblown point?
@hoganfan2006 Жыл бұрын
I’m failing to see how this addresses target panic more than a pull-through shot with a back tension release and/or thumb button(?). I’ve tried it, with little success.

"Single digit manipulation" aka punch it
@Ccj0711 Жыл бұрын
Not at all. He’s saying using your thumb to move the trigger in a way that actually makes it fire rather than pulling with your whole arm or back and adding tons of pressure to the bow that doesn’t actually help the release fire. With that being said pressure is good and it’s ultimately what makes the bow be still.
@phantomcruizer Жыл бұрын
🤔 Oh, punch it lightly then.
@raphael6488Ай бұрын
@@phantomcruizerNo it is still a surprise shot but moving the trigger with your thumb slowly until it breaks.
@hakopawilkie5690 Жыл бұрын
Isn't single digit manipulation trigger punching? I'm confused.
@glenncharles6622 Жыл бұрын
No, because as I understand it, single digit manipulation is a continuation of what got you to the click. It will still yield a surprise shot because the motion is slow enough to stop. There is no stopping once you decide to punch the trigger. This at least is my understanding of his method.
@ajbholsters2035 Жыл бұрын
Pressing the trigger deliberately or commanding the shot is not the same as punching a release. "Punching" implies rushing the shot and loosing the arrow before you are relaxed and settled on target. Commanding the shot just means you are on target and decide when the arrow is going to fire instead of letting it surprise you.

This is not the proper way to shoot a release people do not shoot this way. This needs to be shot the same as a hinge. Set your thumb on the barrel as you anchor and relax into the click, then some more relaxation while building tension will make it fire. Pulling the trigger is wrong wrong wrong
