There was an article in bicycling magazine that attempted to identify the real "non-doping" winner of Lance's victories. They had to go down to 10th place in most of the races since the top 9 or so were also convicted of doping. So, he was the best - the best cycler and best doper.

Never liked this guy but I have to give him respect for coming forward even if he got caught and kind of had to because a lot of people would just rat out completely and at least he finally faced the music And only he knows what it feels like to be him and to have done what he did. Anyway I respect anyone that is a human being because it is damn hard and we all make mistakes including some pretty seemingly big ones sometimes. In the end, your integrity is based on what you take responsibility for and sometimes that takes a while and for some it never comes.

Athletes like Lance achieve amazing physical and mental feats and become an inspiration to many. It's human nature to find heroes and role-models. When it is discovered that these "heroes" are, in fact, deceitful, it makes big waves, of course. Is it really that hard to grasp?

The sad thing is I have talked to former professional athletes, and as an athlete myself I look at some of these feats..and with the history of doping and the inability to create or unwillingness to create a competent system has led me to the same belief. I think we should regulate it instead of banning it its no different than when we tried to ban alchohol and would be no different than trying to ban firearms in my opinion.

Are you kidding me? People go to jail for selling a bit of marijuana. He, on the other hand, lied, cheated, perjured himself in a Federal Court, for over TEN years, as he made millions and millions of dollars (over 30 million dollars of American tax money from the Postal Service alone), he destroyed clean cyclists' careers who dared to tell the truth, he bribed officials and doctors, and now he'll be throwing his colleagues under the bus. What, do you want to give him another trophy? Unreal.

All this Lance Armstrong shaming is ABSOLUTELY ridiculous. You take the top 30 cyclists that participate in the Tour De France, and I guarantee that 99% of them have used performance enhancing drugs. He just has the balls to admit it. In world class competition amongst ALMOST all sports, it's getting to the point where it's required to take these drugs to have a chance. Educate yourselves people, he's doing no different than other top level athletes. I believe Mr. Armstrong is a good man and stands for a good cause. He decided to come out and tell the truth about it (which he didn't have to do, just shows you how good of a person he is.) Before you start getting pissed off and boohooing about a subject you're completely ignorant about, do some research. I can't believe such a caring person that has done a lot of good for people, is being BULLIED by a bunch of idiots and over something SO miniscule. You think him poking something in ass once a week trumps all his charity foundations? Think again.

yet he's rich n famous due to his cycling performance. and you can't feel sorry for someone just cos he got caught and rest of them didn't, unless well, you did something bad like many others but only you got the blame for it, and you were pissed off at the people who caught you instead of yourself for choosing to do the wrong thing. btw, mafia here do lots of charities too, but they're still mafia. if you can't even tell right from wrong, i think you need more education, and some maybe some sense. every action come with a responsibility, and he admitting it means he's at least learning from his mistake, which makes him a BETTER MAN, but doesn't make him a great man.

9 out of the 10 were all on the drugs, how come he still came out first for 7 years and probably forever? because he still trains and he was built for cycling. the drugs just gave him the upper hand but knowing that 9 out of 10 used drugs and they couldn't take away that title shows that he was the real winner. peformence enchaning drugs shouldn't be illgeal. sometimes, it's needed. sure there are serious side efrects but why is it still being sold? lance is a legend.

It's not just cycling. A huge number of people watch, compete, and draw inspiration from endurance sports. In an Ironman triathlon, for example, athletes start off by swimming 2.4 miles, then immediately cycle for 112 miles, then immediately run 26.2 miles. Some of these athletes are in their 80's. Just saying, it's about more than just riding a bicycle.
