As a former pop-up owner, enjoy seeing peoples mods on them. Might I suggest adding PopupGizmos bunk end covers to extend your seasons. When we had a pop-up they made a huge difference for both cold and hot weather.

We don't camp in the summer, just too hot & the heater does a great job in the winter - so I don't see a need for this, just another item to set up - too much work in my opinion.

Had a Jayco 1207 back in the 80's and did almost all the mods to mine that you did. Raised it for better off roading. Outdoor kitchen and everything, plus a screened in porch. I was single back then and my shower was a big hit at the singles campouts our Church did. I carried a 2 seat kayak and a tandum bicycle on my homemade roof rack that were always in demand. Lots of fun memories!

Lance- great stuff- love your responses to negative people- why do people care what you do or spend on your camper- Camp your way and enjoy- keep it up. I do want to get your advice on drilling holes in roof for solar gland- I can see you came in on the side where the factory wires and the tent has the wires running down- did you have any issues coming in from that point or any watch outs? Also did you drill new holes behind where the factory wires run down to storage area to fit the solar wires in?
@One2ManyHobbies
@One2ManyHobbies 2 жыл бұрын
I went through the factory gland and ran new 12g wires through the canvas and into the body of the camper coming out next to the water heater - since the 12g wire was thinker, I did drill a 2nd hole into the camper next to the hole that came from the manufacture. Rockwood ran wire but there was a couple connection points i didn't like and I wanted thicker wire. Hope this helps.

Im surprised you needed air bags for your pop up, mine is the larger model with a bigger deck for my dirt bikes and I've had no issues with my jeep, I enjoyed your video and actually got some good ideas for my simular pop up. I like the cook box and I'm interested in that project as the oem grill was an incredible let down, I am not sure if you experimented with your ac and generators but as a hvac guy ill tell you a cheap hard start was all it took and my ryobi inverter generator 1800 watt running load, can run my ac all day. I'm happy with my generator but I would like to add some small solar to keep everything topped off. I definitely prefer to be out of the pop up enjoying the location vs siting inside and running it all down during the day. I'm going to copy your shower door fix because that was the first major problem in mine
@One2ManyHobbies
@One2ManyHobbies 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching, glade you got some ideas for your camper. I load my truck down pretty hard, I carry a bunch of firewood, 80 qt cooler and the extra weight I added to the tongue was the reason I wanted air bags - I could have gotten away without them, but a level ride is so much smoother. I can actually run my a/c with my 2k inverter, b/c it's got a peak of 4k watts, although a soft start would really help with the start up load draw - we don't our a/c it b/c we're always winter camping. I'm working on the plumbing video now, on how I merged the shower & sink into a 3 inch drain - should be out soon.

I am so happy I bought a 1984 starcraft that is all galvanized body top bottom and walls and only weighs 1400lbs a lot of work to restore it but will last forever, compared to this thing sadly with a wood bottom... that's really sad and probably all plastic body. Great work! Thanks for the video. I have a 2002 Viking Epic. I have done a lot of modifications. I’m wondering with the changes and additions you have made, how close you are coming to your GVWR as well as tongue weight? Has this been an issue?

Haven't had any issues - this 2280 came with 1,260lbs of CCC. I removed the heavy LEAD Acid batteries and moved the Lithium to the back, counter balancing the tongue weight for the other stuff I added.

Just looked into getting one of these for my family. Hadn’t heard anything about plumbing issues. But looking at it I would imagine it’s because there’s no vents. Sewer lines need vents to drain, it would be the same as putting your thumb on top of a straw and then pulling it out of your drink. I couldn’t quite tell in the video how you solved this issue. Was that a pump on sewer lines?

Yes, I added a air vent, as well as connected the shower and sink into the same drain line. I have a separate video on the plumbing install.

@@One2ManyHobbies Which is more energy efficient, your 12v fridge or your 3-way fridge (propane+12v) while boondocking?
@One2ManyHobbies
@One2ManyHobbies Жыл бұрын
@@patricklacson The 12v Dometic is easier to keep the temp from freezing - the 3 way camper fridge on propane can be tricky to keep from freezing in the winter months camping when it's 30 +/- each day. I run the 3 way on propane, so it saved me power on my battery and the 12v doesn't draw that much power - that's a perk of the 12v especially in the winter months.

i like all the items you have done with the tent trailer, one little thing, the leveling bulbs should be on the outside instead of in the inside, this way you can site level without have to go in/out of the trailer to level off, 4 corners or 1, on the front utility box and rear bumper or all 4 corners ? oh one more thing, the propane tanks should under the trailer , in a cradle box, that swivels from a slid in 45 degs, to flat when transporting . one on left one on right, . the reason is there;s to much weight up front i say, about, 400#;s up front. using your air bags on the truck is great but your still placing to much weight on the hitch and the ball weight,. relocating the propane tank, should be just in front of the axle, placing downward force on the trailer for a safe and steady ride.

I find the levels work best where there at, I can get the camper about 90% level by eyeballing it, then I like to fine tune it by using the stabilizers when I have the roof up. There isn't enough room to install propane under the camper frame. I've added some more weight to the tongue & I've also removed some weight - overall I don't have any issues with tongue weight for my tow truck. Thanks for the feedback.
