other differencies were on th braking system where first series used dunlop calipers front and rear with 18 or 19 millimeters master cylinder and no brake booster, second series were fitted with girling calipers and 21 millimeters master coupled to a brake booster; first series lacked the water temp. sensor on the radiator and had a smaller diameter exaust system. The triangular portion of the front windows was fixed on the first series and could be opened in the second. both were awesome cars by the way! thank you for uploading this video, it's a great tribute to a breed of italian cars that seems to be forgotten by too many car enthusiast!

Its down to personal choice and yes the series one is all Lancia but some would argue (myself included) that that the series 2 is more reliable with better brakes and a 5 speed box for starters.If FIAT had not stepped in there would not have been a series 2 or 3 because the over engineering and expensive materials took Lancia to the brink of liquidation. These lovely cars would have been practically extinct now without the intervention of FIAT.Incidentally they are all collectors cars now and their values have almost doubled in the last 5 years,at least mine has but i bought my series 2 to drive and enjoy and not to sit in a garage covered up.If they continue to rise in value then that is just an added bonus.

My first car was the series 2, a real gem. Approximately 40 years later I have always owned at least 1 Fulvia. Currently, I own a 1.6HF. I think that the series 2 cars are more practical for every day;use, the heater, the windscreen washers and general switch gear are better, and the 5 speed gear box is also a big plus given the close ratios, and with the servo the brakes are easier. The series 1 handle a little better.. I think that he is wrong about the oil cooler. I have never seen a series 1 without an oil cooler, and I have owned several. Which ever model they are captivating little cars, and I guess that is why I have always owned at least one.

Had both and my preference is the series one 1.3 rallye. It was very solid and reliable and a joy. The series 2 is great two and love the dog leg 5 speed but unfortunately there problems with structural rust which is very difficult to fix

S1 1,3S Rallye had Oil cooler as standard from factory. No Fulvia had vented discs.

the older car is the last real lancia fulvia made and a collectors item, fiat after that took control and made many changes that have not been mentioned such as the aluminium boot bonnets and doors on the older cars replaced by cheap steel. the 4 speed gear change is also pure lancia which was over engendered to such high standards on the series 1 car. the blue lancia is a total gem and fiat replaced many parts with plastic such as the fan which was aluminium on the light blue car and gives it a distinctive sound on the road when driving. Fiat made many other cost cutting measures that were taken when they took over production of the fulvia .

The S1 started with all steel panels and somewhere in the production of the S1 1.2 they put on the alu panels and somewhere on the S1 1.3 S they stopped with the alu panels. i personally prefer the series 2. i like its slightly more angular design and straight grill.

when i referred to blue car as the gem and real lancia i am referring to the lighter blue car. the series 1 and the older car also has polished chromed parts and stainless steel as both car look similar be in no doubt that the older car is the real lancia and a car with admirers . its crazy to think that fiat would change the materials but you understand why, production of the series 1 was not financially viable as all its bits were quality parts and fiat production replaced everything, brass parts and all.

Thé Swedish versions had headrests to comply with safetety regulations on the s2 models if I’m not mistaken
