just posting it here as it might help someone in the future regarding our mighty 90s. 🚫⚠️Starting Issue. This just one of many things but again. Might help someone!!😁😁to save time and 💵$$
My truck is having a starting issue lately. All Crank No Start.
Fuel lines(primer) to injector pump✔, No fuel from injector pump to engine.
after some days of diagnosing the truck having all main and general stuff checked.
✔Checked fuel lines
✔injector pump wiring connections
✔ general fuse area(box and drivers cab)
✔solenoid resistance
✔swapped the ecu (suspected capacitors leak) did fire once but all cranking on 2nd go.
(Ruled out injector pump is working)
✔earth points(suspected short circuit causing spillvalve not to open)
Upon more research I discovered a relay for the spill valve just hidden on passenger glove box.
And that solved my case!
I was even planning to send my ecu for reconditioning and buy/reco injector pump out of suspicion.
But a simple relay thats tucked away is the culprint😃
Symptoms before it happened.
For the past 6 months
*Intermittent starting/hard starting
*3 to 4 turns before start
Until doesnt want to go at all.
Hopefully this will help someone in the future

I'm an auto sparky . Have had that similar issue before but needed a second hand pump to fix problem. Sensors in output failing and confusing ecu. Great work kn your diagnosis and laughs with the old man 👴 👍👍

Thanks, yeah its nice to have a similar prado in my case. I have swapped ecu, switches and stuff to rule out things. Yeah things like this I spend time with my old man is gold😁

Hi Ralph, nice work mate! I was having the same trouble with my Prado 2002 KZTE Turbo Diesel engine. I did the same things as you and I still having problem to start my engine.It take about 5 to 10 seconds to start, when is cranking and blowing grey smoke just at the beginning. I was following several manuals and also looking for help on You Tube. But I could not find where is that bloody relay! Thanks for your help and I wishing you a lot of happy adventures with your Prado.

I own a toyota prado land cruiser 1999 , and I have a problem with the car. If I turn on the 2nd start bulb, the car will turn on, and if it does not work, 2nd start. The car will not start at all, and I noticed that the diesel does not reach the engine and does not come out of the pump, although it is working fine. I have 4 months and could not start the car because of this problem and I did not find it.

I have starting issues, the sulf take too long to start this engine, i replaced new injectors, new turbo, heaters but all in vain, it also emit smoke when engine start up.

Hey man, things to check also is your egr valve/diaphragm.(like a spaceship above the egr) If this is stuck open/closed. The engine wont start at all or can start with lots of smoke then wont idle much. Try to have someone turn the key to On position then off. You should see move freely. Hope that helps mate

I have the exact same issue with a LHD but no matter where I look, I can't find this relay!!! According to the manual should be "passenger R/B", but I've been looking everywhere under the dash, left and right but I can't find it.... . And I know the cause of the problem is either the relay or the ecu itself because the SPV doesn't get activated. Engine starts when I activate the valve myself...

Heya yeah I checked my manual for Lhd aswell. And its showing side of glove box. By chance you haven't removed the airduct to access on the side?. Also had a quick search online there is a relay for fuel pump LHD driver's side airvent near the door. Hope you find you're one!

help needed please i have a 2004 Toyota prado 120 series diesel with manual gearbox i went to start it today when i turn the key its dead silent nothing all dash instrument lights light up but no dash lights also electric windows dont work when we push the car it starts first go could it be starter motor what do i check please

Hi, lots of possibilities, but I'd check fuses make sure they are not blown, starter relay as well. You can check voltage to starter aswell see if its getting voltage/and signal. Cheers

there should be 12 volts going to starter so one battery wire goes to starter and should be a thin wire that goes to ignition and when i turn ignition on to start there should be power at the thin ignition wire does that sound right

Wen ta datoy met bagik ket aghard starting 30 minutes after nga mausar. Nu umuna nga andar ti bigat ket one click met. Kababain gamin nu hard starting nu nakapark. Nasukatak payen amin nga sensor nan. Crank sensor,turbo pressure sensor,ecu coolant sensor. Jay resistor mod gayam natry mo ba?

@@marcusbenignohipol4849 ahh, inpalukat yu jay ECU macheck nu nag leak dagijay capacitator na. Maysa nga cause na. Han ko irecomend resistor mod nu daily use lugan hehe
