Toyota makes a lot of those holes the help with maintenance all around their cars. I wish other manufacturers would adopt the same. But I’m not sure which holes you’re referring to on this particular job. Can you tag the 1:00 minute so I can be sure. I didn’t see any on the plate I worked with picks. Thanks!

@@AdventureTEQ 7:15. When you remove those bolts, there are threads *within* the bolt holes to insert a larger bolt and "push" the plate out. So the area below the plate is threaded which holds that plate down to the unit, but the the plate itself is threaded to install a bolt to push against the mating surface and drive it out. Does that make sense?

For further clarity, at 10:21 when you're holding the plate up, those holes are threaded. Install a bolt into that and you can "push" the plate out by driving it against the housing below it.

At 7:28 I’m removing bolts from those holes. I thought they were just plain holes. Are you saying you can put the next size bolts up into threads that I didn’t see? THAT would be a new one on me. I’ve only ever seen holes threaded for that purpose that are solely intended for that purpose. Never a “dual use” hole. If you’re sure then I’ll take your word for it! And thanks! 🙌🏻

@@AdventureTEQ Yep, that's what I'm saying! I just did it and noticed after screwing with that plate for an hour with picks. They are threaded where the shoulder of the bolt goes (IN the plate) and also threaded where the bolt retains the plate IN the housing. The shouldered area is the next size up spot to push the plate out.
