Thanks for this video - I have been considering one of these, but wasn't sure how permanent it was. You brought up all of the things on my mind (I really like the thumb turn bolt idea for exactly the reason you bring up (I haul different things all the time). Brilliant idea!

Hi Steven - yes i had been considering selling these for a while - I was not sure but overall the product is a good solution to a problem that really should not be there ! ( Land Rover should have provided a better shelf or at least secure fixing points )
@apachepilot19 Жыл бұрын
@powerfulukltd got my tray in the mail earlier. Installed it in less than a hour. Also got the umbrella and flashlight. Great stuff. All the 3d printed bits worked brilliantly. Thanks!

Just received and installed mine. A very simple install , although I would recommend test fitting the screws which secure the cage to the brackets as this will make for an easier fit when installing in the car. A very robust product - 1000 times better than the flimsy standard Land Rover offering - and the thumb turn screws are a genius add-on by the team at Powerful.

Great video Simon, and a ace idea about the thumb screw, maybe someone should have a word with Britpart to see if they would be interested in sending you a sample of their products so that you can maybe tweak them before they go into production, and there by making a good product into a GREAT PRODUCT, that is if you don’t mind please. But if they do you must remember your priorities, to KEEP MAKING THESE GREAT VIDEOS, PLEASE PLEASE. Best Regards. Chris Thank you and all of your team again for all of you help.

Hi Chris - we have a good relationship with Britpart and I talk directly to the MD and he has been a great help to our business especially over the last 12 months so I do want to promote their products but i still want to be honest and critical. The only other problem with Britpart is that we must have higher overhead costs as other people can sell their products for very low margins. We enjoy making the videos so I am glad you enjoy watching them !

What we need is a similar mesh/construction partition for below, so you could make a dog cage below. My spaniel loves being under it, but a mesh partition would make it loads better

Great video boys, nice to able to see the product like that. I has similar for a while make from an old Roof Rack Basket. The Britpart one reminds me of the the xanadoo basket for the D3 & D4. You mentioned a couple of times about “cross threading” That is a problem I have had now twice. Once on the back door when fitting the camping table and once on the drivers side forward mount of the shelf that you were fitting. I think there is scope for a basket with a built in back that mounts into the roof bulkhead bolts. That would make the whole thing more secure , especially in an type of impact, but also could add space for mounting things like torches, jump leads , fire extinguishers etc. It might not be so easily removable. I Does the basket fit the 110 5 seater and seven seater? Keep it in boys. I will be watching. p.s. thanks for the mention a few clips back. There is much hospital time at present sort out the health issues. Non Stick Nick

An interesting idea and all the better for the Simon and Tylor upgrade! My thoughts…a rubber/plastic mat to go in the tray to stop small things falling through? Would the leading edge be better with a larger upstand so that you would not need the JLR Loadspace net? Could it be that the long side with the weld in it, is the front interior face and the upstand stops things falling out of the back when the tailgate is opened? On the colours, I’m sure you can get different interiors in cloth seats but the harder plastic side panels are always black so it does work with every colour choice. Good work again men!!😀😀😀😀Richard.😃😃😃
@L6632 жыл бұрын
Lots of good ideas here Richard..I guess the height of the upstands is tricky as some people will want to be able to put things through the gap - but generally most people will need to use a net to stop the stuff on the shelf flying forward in an accident - i think our "sky hooks" and some general cargo net will be the best solution - the LR net is neat but its £££ ! Question for you ... what does HQB stand for ?
@HQBProductions2 жыл бұрын
@@L663 Simon…I will try to make this brief! It is Horatio Q Birdbath which was a name I started using when I began writing poems and contributions to Sir Terry Wogan on BBC R2 Wake up to Wogan programme. I did that for 15 years until he retired and they were special times in many ways. I’m not sure that you would have listened to him and now I rarely tune to R2 except for Lisa Tarbuck and Tony Blackburn. The name comes from one of the members of Spike Jones and his City Slickers band who made many comedy records long ago…on WUTW we had to have daft names…I was also Chuck Sidewinder(Cake decorator and motorcycle mechanic)….sometimes Eileen Dover with her sister Ann Fellout….and rarely Claude Bottom, lion tamer. Those of us involved hope that we brought some smiles to morning listeners…I miss those days a lot now. 🙂🙂🙂 Richard. 😀😀😀😀

Hi Simon, Do you have a video about the rear corner and how you added the cables from inside to the outside? I know your video about the removal of the panel but I can’t find anything about how you wired the cables. Did you drill trough the metal?

Nicely done 😎👍 now I’m wondering if there is a solution like this for the 90, even if it’s needs the rear seats down 🤔
@L6632 жыл бұрын
Hi Steve - yes space in the 90 is a real premium and something we need to spend more time looking at. We are working on the Thule roof box spacers and the picnic table works well for the 90 ( as you know ) but a shelf would help also.
@geoweeks2 жыл бұрын
Just to confirm that it will fit if you have a LR half height dog guard- bit of contortion to manoeuvre it into place but can be done with a P400e
@L6632 жыл бұрын
Wow you did well to fit it - you must have the most difficult combination with the extra box for the controls on the LH side and the dog guard !

Why not put the 4 bolts in from the bottom, the thread in the bracket will hold them , then use 4 wing nuts or thumb nuts on the top ?
@DarrenDeBanks2 жыл бұрын
What about a spacer option to raise the height using the extra thread length. I'm not sure my fridge will fit under a fixed shelf. The flexible cat bed one at least has some 'give'. Just an idea.
@L6632 жыл бұрын
The fixings seem to rely more on keeping the shelf in contact with the plastic trim for a secure fixing that the strength of the fixings themselves so adding spacers although possible would probably make the shelf less secure quite quickly. In writing this comment i am thinking we should even add some neoprene to the underside of the metal mounts to increase the friction.

Great stuff. Could you add the original JLR 'cargo clips' that you removed back on top of the bracket? If so, this would allow the user to add a cargo net on top of the gear stored on the new tray? Thoughts? Best! (maybe not as useful as I imagined)
