Had a problem outside our local Hospital in the UK last night, it was pissing down and we couldn’t get in, I opened it with the key and pulled the fuses on the horns and then looked for the EKA code, we couldn’t find it so I plugged my Hawkeye in and went into the security setting and managed to get it to start.. its 18 years old now and we’ve owned it from new and it’s the first time I’ve noticed the dealer never put the bloody code numbers on the card😡😡. Luckily it didn’t happened last year when we were traveling around Scandinavia in it as we were up inside the artic circle! I now have to drive the car to Cardiff with proof of ownership so they can release the code... I did swear I’d never set foot I another Land Rover dealership after the piece of shit they’ve just revealed, I am of course talking about the new Defender...another electrical nightmare which will be totally useless to anyone who needs a utility vehicle like the defender was..

NOT SURE IF THIS IS RELEVANT, BUT TODAY I WAS LOCKED OUT OF MY DISCOVERY WHEN THE KEY FOBS STOPPED WORKING AND UNFORTUNATELY MY DRIVER SIDE KEYHOLE WAS KNACKERED AS WELL. THIS MEAN'T THERE WAS NO WAY INTO THE CAR......OR SO I THOUGHT. I CALLED OUT MY BREAKDOWN SERVICE AND A VERY KNOWLEDGABLE GUY TURNED UP, HE SQUEEZED THE KEYFOB AND THEN PRESSED THE LOCK BUTTON RAPIDLY ABOUT 20 TIMES THEN HIT THE UNLOCK BUTTON AND HEY PRESTO, THE FUCKER OPENED.

Just replaced my receiver and sorted the blame 😊

Had this problem for the first time today. Battery had run low due to alarm going off in the night. Used kill switch to stop it. Next day alarm went off whilst parked up. Never does this usually. So either my fob battery is knackered or main battery is knackered. Possibly damp kicked off the alarm in first place. Car was immobilised today and got it going again by pressing the fob which I hardly ever use since I bought the car. So let the fun begin sorting the bloody thing

Hi and thanks so much for sharing. You’re the first to mention the receiver Ariel in the roof ? Where is that and where does it plug in or in other words what ECU does it talk to ? I’ve changed my BCU and engine ECU and key reader and the car still is the same as before, one minute it all works perfectly with the buttons on the key then next minute nothing and it won’t start

What if I do not have the key? I had to change the ignition in a 2002 Land Rover Discovery 2 because the key broke in the ignition and Land rover will not help with this. Now that I have changed the ignition once I put a new battery in the Key fob (so I could lock the car) the Land rover will now stop running after a few minutes. I believe the fuel pump shuts down due to anti-theft. Is there a ignition that I can use that will over ride this? Thoughts?

FYI: LR (UK) just charged me £36 for the EKA code for a 2003 Td5. & they do not give out key codes anymore, you have to purchase a whole new key from them. Bunch of robbers.

All wrong anyway. Here's hiw.. Using the ignition key insert it into the drivers door lock. Turn the key clockwise to the locking position (the doors will lock) and hold it in this position for at least 5 seconds. After 5 seconds slowly return the key to a central upright position. The first digit - Turn the key fully, as far as it can go, anticlockwise to the unlock position (the doors will unlock) then back to the central upright position. This should be done the amount of times as the first digit on your security card. The second digit - Turn the key fully, as far as it can go, clockwise to the lock position then back to the central, upright position. This should be done the amount of times as the second digit on your security card. The third digit - Turn the key anticlockwise to the unlock position again, the number of times shown on the security card The fourth digit - Turn the key clockwise to the lock position again, the number of times shown on the security card. Once this has been completed turn the key to the unlock position once.
