Really great tip. Had the exactly same problem with my drivers door which had suddenly stuck shut forcing me to clamber in via the passenger side. Prior to watching your video I had already started to work towards removing the door card to investigate further and had removed internal door handle, latch surround and window winder etc. Having viewed your video, I simply pulled door card away in the corner above the lock (made easier by having already removed the latch surround etc) and being able to get a decent view of the door internals found the situation was as exactly as you described it ie the offending 'lug' was stuck. Using a long screwdriver I pushed the 'lug' back in place via the latch cut out/ opening in the door card and was then able to unlock the door without problem. I gave the 'lug' and its spring a blast with WD 40 via the same opening and the lock is now functioning as normal. From start to finish it probably took me less than 5 mins from watching the video to resolving the problem. Much appreciated and many thanks for undoubtedly saving me hours of grief .

thanks - I have what I hope is the same issue, both rear side doors on my td5 wont open. Have gone in through the boot and tried twiddling everything - apart from the reverse of the bit you have pointed out. Fingers crossed when I go to the vehicle today, this solves it. thanks for the vid I have an issue with one of my doors not locking, sometimes it does sometimes it won't & I haven't figured out why yet. Ive played with the latch positions & checked the wiring to the door actuators. All good. Hopefully when it stops raining I can get a door card off to see what's happening, again... Its painful working on an open drive in winter

Just for info you can also shortcut opening the door as I discovered. I had the exact same problem on my drivers door. Get a small screwdriver and use it to physically push up the pin which then releases the latch on the striker plate. No need to faff about removing the door or even the door card. Once it is pushed up and the lock is in the unlock position you should be able to open the door as normal. I practiced on the passenger door to check how it worked. Got that trick from another KZfaq vid.

yeah but how do you take the door card off with the door closed - in the front doors the seats are in the way
