In this episode, Kevin shows us his Land Rover Overland Build. With the lack of aftermarket support for Land Rover / Range Rover Kevin had to build a lot of his own solutions. The result is a very capable Land Rover that will hold its own against other brands. From the custom winch bumper to the DIY roof rack install, this Land Rover has what it need to explore.

Love the aftermarket modifications. We swapped out the air suspension for coils and still running strong with 210k miles (337k km) and counting. Looking forward to the next 100k miles

If you want a vehicle to just drive on the farm and offroad, then buy a LandCruiser. If you want an onroad vehicle with some serious offroad, then Range Rover is by far the better option, the road driving comfort is out of this world. LandCruiser feels like a pickup truck, because it basically is.

I bought my first land rover a year ago i always liked land rovers brand i. Bought a 2007 land rover lr3 hse with 144k on odometer for 1100.00 on copart clean title with mechanical issues it wouldn't run or start i bought a new battery, put gas in it sprayed starting fluid she fired up runs good but previous owner stop repairing the issues i had to replace water pump , radiator, all coolant hoses all belts a couple of pulleys, , lower steering shaft, and rebuild transmission, but for up grades replaced all control arms and air suspension new air compressor, added a terra firma rear swing out tire carrier a spare 10 gallon titan gas can that mounts to spare tire , afront runner roof rack , a snorkle , i have a arb bull bumper for front bumper but i like oem look so i may install a winch plate , land rovers can be a pain in the ass limp mode for anyone to own a rover best to have some mechanical skills or friends that do i was also looking at a discovery 2 but i might buy a l322 or ll405 i like the look of the l322 the box look the l405 is more modern looks too nice for offroad just know to any new buyers of any land rovers don't make these vehicles your only vehicle this is where you end up with a love / hate relationship with a rover any rover can be fixed it you have the money 💰 🤑 💸 older high end / performance vehicles still cost to repair it like a new vehicles any way i love my rover

Can’t agree about needing a Toyota to return from trips, been a Land Rover owner for more that a half million miles on 3 vehicles, Defender 90, LR4 and Range Rover Sport, and never had to return without my Land Rover in perfect working order. Have also owned Toyotas, and are also great vehicles but poorly equipped and very unexciting.

There’s a reason why that $145k truck is now worth only $6k. They’re massively complicated and costly to fix.

They depreciate at that rate for the same reasons Toyotas don't. Market perception. Land Rovers are perceived to be overly complicated, difficult and expensive to repair, while Toyota is perceived to be simple, easy and cheap. I guarantee that if you took a similar spec Toyota from the same period, did the same mileage under the same conditions that it would only be marginally cheaper. Any mechanic is willing to work on a Toyota because it is not perceived as a luxury brand, whilst most independent mechanics won't touch a Land Rover for fear of messing it up. This is why you have Land Rover only independent mechanics, and often why you find Land Rovers in such poor states of repair 10 years down the line. Dealers charge too much, and 95% of independents won't touch it, so it doesn't get repaired. There is not a single Toyota that truly compares to a Land Rover after 2003. If you compare apples to apples, you will see that Toyota is actually very expensive for what you receive. They have never been on the cutting edge, willing to push the boundaries. They just play it safe, so ultimately, you end up paying a lot of money for old technology, whilst companies like Land Rover are the pioneers of the industry and develop tech that you will find in Toyota 20 years later.

@@any0n378this is exactly why the 2006-2009 l322 is such a gem. A flawed public perception has kept their prices down but I assure you that won’t last for long.
