Absolutely bullet proof, simple to work on and every part easy to obtain. I recommend engine change as the land rover units are gutless. I personally liked the split rear door, don't rot and are useful, take the spare off the bonnet and put it on the back with independent carrier.

Thanks for watching! I don’t agree about the engines, they were appropriate for the era, vehicle use and chassis.

Very Nice, Please do a buying guide for the Morris Minor. I've been wanting to get one for a project, but here in the USA prices are all over the place, and I've been stuck on a fair Price to pay.

I was considering buying an old land rover, after looking at the market and seeing a couple of series 3s and old Defenders that seem to be largely in good nick. I've been somewhat put off by the inability to get any quotes from temporary insurance companies though. I don't know if its because of the age of the vehicle, not accepting the Northern Ireland licence (that is definitely the case for some) or just the fact lots of companies have stopped insuring land rovers. I'm open to any advice in this regard, I only want to be able to legally drive home if I do decide to buy one, once/of thats done I can arrange a long term policy at my leisure.

I’m sorry to hear you are having such hassle! I’ve not had the same experience but admittedly have not tried to areange a temporary policy. I pay approx £100/year with Adrian Flux. Hopefully you can get something arranged soon!

Bought a Series III about 21 years ago. Mine is stock but for an electronic ignition. The ignition switch went bad so I replaced it with a simple push-button (similar to what they have in a Series II) and got rid of the need for a key. What is quite hilarious is that even parked in downtown Boston it has never gotten stolen. I do have keys for the doors, but even if thieves got inside and figured how to start it up, I'm not sure they'd even know how to drive the thing. I do like the IIA's a little more -- they are even more iconic with a simpler interior and of course the narrower-spaced headlights. But IIIs are fine too. My understanding that the IIIs' chassis is made of lighter gauge steel than the older ones were. But I haven't had any bad rust issues. As long as you keep it maintained the things are bombproof. Also they are extremely well designed -- think very carefully about swapping in aftermarket equipment, it doesn't always offer the net improvement that you expect --- learn from other peoples' expensive lessons!

I’m looking at getting a series three as I spent a majority of my childhood flung around in the back of a commercial bodied one. However, my wife is less keen on getting our kids flying lessons - what child car seat is that? And how hard was it to get on fitted. Also on the off chance I particularly want a rag top 109/88 fitting additional three point front facing seats in the back - undoable in your opinion?
@restosaga
@restosaga 4 жыл бұрын
Hi! It’s a Cosatto seat, fits really well in the Landie as well as my MG, held in by the seatbelt so I use it in my daily driver too. For rag tops you can fit an extra cross bar, Exmoor Trim make them, that sits at shoulder height, allowing three point belt fitment in the front, very doable! Keep me posted!

Im looking to buy a land rover from 1977. It was used in the army here in Chile (south america). The car is in bad shape but i would like to use it as a proyect to resell in the future. Could you help me predict an aprox of what the car is worth?? I have pictures and videos. I can send them to you via email
