Now it's time for the front axle.
Enable subtitles for comments in the video.
If you just joined, then what you see in the video is a Land Rover 109" from 1975 that I'm currently restoring.
I found the swivel area needed some refreshment, and took them all apart.
Springs got blasted, painted and mounted.
Steering got new ball joints.
Free wheeling hubs was unable to engage 4x4, took them apart and got them spinning again.

** I may need to mention, I'm no mechanic, so anything you see in this video, may not be the correct way to do this. This is meant as a timelapse/build vlog instead of as a repair guide :) **

Looking good. I think you are missing the clocking pin on your free wheeling hubs. They look the same model as mine. Geoffrey Croker does a great video on these on his Land Rover restoration series. Looking forward to the next episode, new sub right here!

great job, but why reuse a rusted and pitted swivel that will never hold a good seal to the wiper seal? would personally change em out when one first have everything taken apart

Hi, you're making a good point, and i thought about it, but seeing it wasnt leaking much before with a bad seal, i took the chance for now. If leaking, well i guess i take it apart again :')

I believe you're looking for Swivel Housing Gaiter Kit #276954. Found them at Paddockspares.

Could it be a swivel gaiter you mean. I used the (276954) Swivel Housing Gaiter Kit for land rover.

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in entire EU and Scandinavia :-( In Germany the Green Peoples Party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing all conventional fuel stations to only one state operated central gas station per city or county. Now they want to slow down all the gas station fuel pumps from 20 litre per minute to 2 litre per minute...From 2027 on in the EU certain car spare parts will be banned too....as exhaust systems, turbo chargers and even some engine and gearbox oils...California and New York will do the same from 2027 on.... So no investments should be done in oil burning cars any longer....They even created a new kind of crime here, called emissions and smoke crime :-(!
