LAND HO on the exclusive Brazilian holiday island of Fernando de Noronha. Sailing across an ocean out of sight of land for 12 days to reach this paradise island was all worth it as we dodge dolphins on our way to explore this remote island's stunning beaches.
We have been sailing around the world for 6 years after setting off from England in 2016 on board our 37ft sail boat Florence. Join us as we share the highs, lows, and challenges of travelling around the world by boat, Sailing offshore across the Oceans and exploring remote locations with our own little tiny house. Boat life out at sea on the ocean and off the grid.

@@julianbatcheler9970 I agree, in fact. I've followed M&A since the early days (I was even one of the early "star patrons" when they had so few that they used to read them out. Of course, they have far more now, and deservedly so!). I managed to finally get away this year and Moon Shadow is currently in Gran Canaria waiting to cross to the Caribbean in January. You never know I may even get to meet them in person there before they head back to the UK 🤞

Out of all the sailing channels I watch on utube your channel is absolutely the very best. The videos are so real without all the drama or staged events. To sum it up it's so real and not phony. The only thing that makes me sad is the thought of you reaching England in a short time and all the amazing scenes and adventures will be sadly over. Maybe you both will find being back in civilization is not for you and you will start another trip around the world. Thankyou for all the great entertainment and a chance to see the world through your lives. God bless and safe travels on the last legs of your fantastic adventure. Lol

I've sailed over a good deal of this planet, partly as a professional skipper.. I'm compelled to say.. this is the only .. The Only.. series of videos that I've sat and 'Binge Watched'.. your presentation is low-key.. resisting drama, informative.. and I have to say.. a good deal kindlier to some of your locations than I would have been ! £65 per night to anchor ! Not to have a night in a secure marina with all facilities.. or even a secure mooring buoy.. just to anchor! I began my long distance sailing back when it was a novelty for the local inhabitants to see a boat not carrying nets.. Certainly you enjoy some advantages.. I still use my sextant, just to keep in practice.. most have converted them into table lamps :)

You capture the sea like no other. I watched it again for a second time on a larger screen this morning. While friends of the YCA have received their awards, don't fret. Your storytelling and cinematography are superior. Being popular in skimpy (at best) swimwear is for views, content be damned. Thank you for sharing your beautiful art.

I agree, I quit watching so many channels because of skimpy bikinis. Once you get past them there is no substance to the vlogs. I get it, skin means views but I want to see adventures and travel.

That new 360deg camera on a stick has been a wonderful enjoyment improvement (in addition to the excellent imagery you presented all along). Of course, it has its specific uses, like your shots while sailing the dinghy. Shots that would have take another camera person or drone before now. But it is how you edit and present your adventures which is the crowning achievement, making this my favorite bluewater sailing channel on KZfaq.

I agree. The wise men of Java say that we humans each have an inner animal in our spiritual makeup.. If so, you must be part dolphin in order to capture the sights, sounds and exhilaration of plying and surfing the the waves, and I must have an inner dolphin because of the way your videos trigger intense memories of my sail-surfing days.long ago. Many thanks.

What to say to the Great sailors and explorers of the ocean sailing. I love you. No words to find to thank you for the opportunity of learning Earth's fiscal geography, and to admire your stories told every two weeks in words, by photos, and accompanied with appropriate music. You are becoming better people each and every day during your voyage. Your love is greater every day. Why is it worth to circumnavigate the Earth on Florence? If you have had any doubt about it before, follow Matt and Amy's voyage on their beautiful boat. Thank you and continue safe sailing! - Michał

Wonderful crossing. Beautiful port. Thanks. A tip on oily tuna like skip jack or Bonita. As soon as you catch it. Tie a line around it’s tail, cut off it’s head and hang over the side just above the waterline. This will drain the excess blood that makes this fish strong flavored. I then after a wile cube it and pan sear it with garlic and butter. Yum!

In 1977, a friend was shipwrecked after his S/V sank in a storm off Brazil. I forget which island but you're in the area. It was five months before he saw another boat. Fernando is not quite Brasil in miniature. It seems much more rocky than the thousands of miles of continuous sand with tropical foilage that I'm used to. Fernando is rich Brasilians playground (the 'Monte Carlo' of Brasil). A favourite beach custom is to put your deckchair a little bit actually in the lagoon water and have a caipirinha - I suppose you tried that drink, aided by the fact that i don't recall seeing any tidal difference all day. Checking in - yes, even tourists have to go for language lessons. I've met people who have never heard a foreign language spoken in their life, and believe that everyone in the world must be able to understand português. You've no idea the surprises I could tell you. The music you heard is "pagode" and I've seen people dancing to it, while waiting at the bus stop for their bus.!! Anyway, you're off now to Guyanne française - let's see how compares to places that you and I know. Happy sailing.

That sign, btw, said that taking small, medium-sized or large animals onto the beach is prohibited. They used the dog, horse and cow for illustrative purposes. The law applies to all the coastline of the state of Pernambuco, of which Fernando de Noronha forms part. The party was to celebrate the 519th anniversary of the discovery of the archipelago in 1503 by a private expedition organised and headed by the Lisbon merchant Fernão de Loronha, after whom the archipelago of 21 islands and isles is named. Yet another superb video! Thank you for sharing!

I was there in 1985, crewing on a 34ft yacht, same route from Namibia and St Helena. I don't remember the charges then but sure it wasn't exorbitant. They were only just starting developing as a tourist destination as indeed were the Caribbean islands. Places like Prickly Bay, Grenada only having basic facilities and better for it. I hope you stopped at Atol das Rocas which was like some south Pacific reef.
