How long of a drive is it to the forest where you can get resources? Heating with a wood stove would be real difficult there it looks like. Homeowners association? $100 a year for maintenance? What do they maintaining?

Wyoming snows 9 months out of the year, is windy as hell, it's hard to grow anything, and people tend to leave after 1 year because it gets below freezing daily during coldest months. Power outages are common because wind is very strong. Summer time is fire season. Wyoming is a tough place to enjoy the outdoors all year round and although friendly, people do not really welcome liberal mindsets. Wyoming people like things to stay the same. If you don't belong in Wyoming, you will definitely feel pushed out eventually.

No water or other utilities…what can you do with a piece of land like this? Nothing
@JohnMiller-iu2sx2 жыл бұрын
Not true. You just have to be creative. Rain water collection, solar. Wood/heat is an issue that I have no off grid solutions for... Yet. But you could still truck some in. All that said you have people looking at this like they are going to put a modem suburban house on it. Heat: I wonder if you could do a bamboo grove?
@deadhorse13912 жыл бұрын
@@JohnMiller-iu2sx at 12 inch of rain a year it’s a 1/3 what the National average is There is a reason why these lands basically don’t have anything but grasses grow on them New buyers are often enticed by acreage when they would be much better off with less but better land and location
@JohnMiller-iu2sx2 жыл бұрын
@@deadhorse1391 I'm not arguing however with a quick Google search 10" of rain a year over a 400 sq ft roof will provide more than 5 gallons a day for a year. I'm saying it's a good option for someone(or group) with a little creativity that wants to be alone and self sufficient.

Except for heating.... I'm still trying to figure out how to make that one work
@FlaGrown19552 жыл бұрын
Water usually has to be brought in by you, have to be careful about where land is located due to extreme wind. You will not get electric in most places and you need to be careful the land your building on is not dolomite. Also extream weater and wind out there. I would only purchase near a city. Prices are good because of all the previous mentioned items. But I love Wyoming and will move there soon. I will not purchase land this far out.

How do people typically use large plots of land that have few resources?

What kind of work do common customers of land like this do to the land once purchased? What I mean is, is it someone buying to cultivate agriculture or build a private home to live in, and if they do build property there, as I often see in wide open spaces, how often is that kind of property inhabited simply for retirement, or raising a family on a farm? I can hardly imagine someone without a large amount of money already being able to afford building a complete home. I myself could imagine working from home with starlink in a secluded area, but that brings me to my last question, how expensive is it to build a home on one of these secluded plots, both in the short term and the long term? Thank you for reading, I myself would like to build a home somewhere in Colorado, whenever I get some real amount of money someday.

This is the windiest and coldest part of Wyoming. I lived in Bow as a kid. The only thing you can cultivate there is dirt.... I wouldn't take this chunk of property if it was free... If you're not from there you would be better off going to a rock shop and buying dirt. Chances of you actually being able to live there are pretty much zero.

Can a Brit just buy a plot and come and live off grid on it? x
@JohnMiller-iu2sx2 жыл бұрын
The Brit part is between you and the U.S. Federal Gov, but many counties don't have building codes. I learned that the Mississippi county I bought land in has no codes so I'll be doing a hybrid on/off grid cabin. The only thing I couldn't figure out here is off grid heating.

What does BLM Land mean?
@LANDIO2 жыл бұрын
@Brenda B. BLM stands for Bureau of Land Management. The BLM was established in 1946, but its roots go back to the years after America’s independence, when the young nation began acquiring additional lands. At first, these lands were used to encourage homesteading and westward migration. The General Land Office was created in 1812 to support this national goal. Over time, values and attitudes regarding public lands shifted, and Congress merged the GLO and another agency, the U.S. Grazing Service, creating the BLM. For more information, please visit. www.blm.gov/ Thank You & God Bless! 🚀 🤠

Stop asking these people about resources. You are looking at cheap dirt. Chance of any HOA or building codes are slim to none. Utilities slim to none Water: prob going to need a rain collection system. Jobs: prob none... Unless you're a doctor. You don't buy land at this price 5 minutes from Walmart or with trees.
