Good fundamental explanations, Adam. I've evolved through your guidance from big box junk fixtures to Volt Lighting fixtures and transformers - huge difference!

Thanks! Yeah, once you see the difference, it nearly impossible not to make that transition from big box junk to professional fixtures.

@@aklighting8292 A follow up question if I may; is there a rule of thumb regarding spacing path lights on steps (versus flat path)? I have 20+ stone steps and am thinking about every 3-4 steps. Of course, the distance from fixture head to ground, wattage, dispersion will all come into the equation (as I answer my own question). Erring on the side of too bright would be safer than too dim I suppose.

@@KENFEDOR22 This is hard to answer because there are so many preferences. I prefer to have lights spaced out every 10ft and stager them. For steps, some people prefer to have the lights on both sides of the steps instead of staggering. I also prefer to have 4 watt bulbs and fewer path lights instead of dimmer bulbs and more path lights.

@@aklighting8292 Thanks, it's admittedly a subjective question but your input is still very helpful!

@@KENFEDOR22 staggered and every 3 steps should work well depending on layout. And a little brighter lamps and less actual fixtures is a plus like he said

I’ve got a lot of neighbors who incorporate Well Lights around the extended mulched yard. I seriously don’t understand why. It just seems weird to have a light shine straight up into the sky.

Just came across your channel. Really helpful. I'm putting in a new wooden horizontal fence around my yard. My goal is to light up the fence which will hopefully light up the whole yard, like string lighting would do, but with fixtures because I really don't like the look of string. What fixture would you recommend? I don't know the pros and cons of lighting up the fence from above or below. Thanks.

Mr16 well lights would work well for a fence since they usually go all the way down to the ground. And the lighter the fence color, the less lumen lamps you should use because it doesn't absorb light like darker color does

usually best to have down/moon lights shining on the driveway. You can also put wash lights on risers. There are a few ways you can do it.
