Just amazing! I was scanning through the videos, and I'm amazed at the array of mediums. I sketched for years, i was pretty decent, but had an aversion to any color, and one day I found watercolor, fell in love, and now I find myself wanting to try every art medium, every color, after 2 years with watercolor I've honed those skills and I can maybe start another medium...maybe. everything is so expensive, I will only use the best, I've learned my lesson wasting money on subpar supplies.

Great tutorial. So glad you chose a desert landscape. Not many desert landscape tutorials with any type of medium . I live in an area that is similar to this scene. I get the semi looseness of this tutorial, fairly laid back and fun . Could you please do a similar realistic landscape tutorial with the same pastel materials you used for this tutorial, with steps taken to achieve the realism. Thank you for your time in making these tutorials. I've enjoyed many of them in the different mediums. Jill C. Huachuca Arizona😊❤

Hey, Matt! Great video and a nice job on the pastel painting. I might try a scene like this in oil pastel. Right now, that's my preferred type of pastel. Thanks for making this instruction available. BTW, I think the greenish plants in the foreground might be sage (?). I'm not a desert person (we don't have landscapes like this in Baltimore!), so I'm not sure.

Omg you are wonderful! I’m trying to follow in my sketchbook, pastels are hard! I feel like a kid coloring on the driveway. But I’m so used to a sharp point, rather whether I’m painting or drawing. Help!

the landscape is beautiful, nothing to say about it, but it does not suit the technique of oil pastel painting which is characteristic precisely for obtaining lively shades with smooth and brilliant tones this looks like a painting done with classic oil paint and brush. The color has many layers, it is overabundant and rippled in certain points of the sheet, it does not suggest the oil pastel technique. white oli pastel is used disproportionately, it is difficult to reproduce the details of the blades of grass in a vivid way especially against the black background; personally I used a triple zero hog bristle brush and pen concealer to make the effect better. also in other points of the image to better refine the details I was forced to use a brush with fluid oil color or watercolor pencils.
