Landscape photography in Madeira with a hurricane out to sea. The conditions were challenging, but I managed to capture some beautiful images of this rugged island. I used a Nikon Z7II, a 24-70mm f4 lens and a 100-400 lens. For 10% off your first purchase, visit www.squarespac...

Two things Thomas: One, switch the tree photograph to BW, in my opinion. Two, you film and we just go along for the ride. That's what makes this channel great. It's whatever we get is the best thing about channels like this. We don't dictate what the narrative is, we as your audience, get to just go on the adventure with you. Doesn't matter what or how you shoot it, we're in. And we get to learn something.

@@robertleidner9703 wow. That’s a bit extreme. It’s just his opinion, lol. Color, black and white-it’s not a matter of knowing what you’re talking about most the time, but what your ideas are. This lad thinks it would be great in BW-there’s no right or wrong here, only opinions.

The story was the stormy, hurricane driven adventure. How could I not enjoy the story, windy, very wind, extremely wind and rain, rain, rain. And the photos, which I enjoyed. When you are struggling and feeling less than successful, that is the story or part of the story, not to worry. Thanks for sharing.

echoing some other comments, your honesty about the struggle of photography and video is part of why we watch! As an amateur, it gives me hope that I can also persevere in this hobby. I love Madeira, great for walking and photography. But the weather is even more changeable than in the UK. I've had rain, hail, snow and hot sun all in the same day. Even in summer, I've had days of fog and rain. But when it smiles on you it is a fantastic location. I loved the skeletal trees shot. And I prefer the sunny pano of Sau Laurenco.

To the contrary Thomas, your videos and style of story telling are immensely entertaining. Even when circumstances don’t work out as expected (and they regularly don’t in landscape photography), you find a way of presenting the situation with a bit of dry humor and practical sense. Always enjoyable to watch.

Love the video, as always Thomas. Even when you feel like you're struggling with the images or the video, I love the honesty of your stories and descriptions. You produce some of the best landscape photography I've ever seen, so it's always good to see that you have the same human struggles as the rest of us. Keep striving and doing what you do, and I will happily come along for the ride. As for the 2 panos, I like the one with sunshine more. I live in Newfoundland, Canada and I get to see more than my share of misty, foggy, moody coastline. It's nice to see the sunshine now and then, and nobody captures light like you. Happy New Year and all the best to you and yours!

I think that we are our own worst critics a lot of the time. I can't speak for everyone, but it's you - your personality that draws me in. Your photos are amazing, of course, but it's the way I get to sort of go on the journey with you that gets me excited for your videos. You strike me as a genuinely good person and I don't often find that with people. Also, I think I prefer the moodier, more atmospheric pano between the two you showed.

I had similar swells when I was there first week of December. Those stacks are my favourite spot on the island, and I got a few good shots with big waves crashing. No rain when I was there, but too much wind to get the drone up. I had serious wind at Pico Ruivo too, but so much cloud there were no shots to be had. Those red cliffs were my favourite shot of 2021, but I didn't get back there this latest trip. Great video as always Thomas. I always enjoy your location shoots.
