From my studying, in order to make the green hold better, you would want to put an absorption mat down under the synthetic turf, and you want a turf that has a heavier face weight and longer fibers requiring more infill sand. On a green as small as mine though you would never be able to hold a 100 yard shot and would have to make a bigger green even with the best turf.

My thought process here is that the last time I built a bunker at our old house it was close to the green and when I used it I would cover the green in sand with every shot and then have to get the blower out to practice putting. This distance solves that problem and keeps a landing spot for me when trying to hit longer shots into the green where I need to land the ball short and bounce it up…Bunkers shots have always been one of my strengths so I’m not too worried about the longer shot for myself, however, it will make it tougher for my kids. They’ll just have to learn fast I guess…..🤣🤣

On your driving range would be a good place, then you could setup a couple flags and do short short shots or longer shots simulating a fairway bunker
