Best way to get into heavy haul for those that are interested...sign on with a paving, or construction company that hauls their own equipment. You will probably be local or out and back but you'll regularly haul up to 150k and be able to get a feel for large oversize loads. My max so far has been 195k. But I did start in flatbed 20 years ago and that experience paid off when it came to learning to secure any type of load or equipment imaginable from over width to 80 ft bridge beams and wind turbine vanes. Here's the catch though spend at least 18-24 months learning to drive a tractor trailer though, RGN, stretch decks and big floats are not real forgiving and the price for mistakes gets expensive and dangerous real quick.

I ran up to PA 3 times a few years ago to pick up the 53ft flatbeds and deliver back to my old company and loved how they rode behind the truck. The factory was a pleasure to pick up at they are friendly and always give us extra lights as well. Great equipment and the company I worked for was a Mac dealer and we started pulling the reitnouer

Well those problems with your trailer would differently eat tires up. Glad the company took care of all that work for you. Should make a differance. Yea if you and Make Cents ever tied up in business, it would be great. With the experience and knowledge you guys have, be some serious bank getting made. But you seem to be happy at LStar and that's good. Good the way you, and Make Cents and Just Truckin share information to help new drivers. It,s great thing to help other guys out that way. And my question to you, or anybody in the comment section, I have seen that you can and cannot run into California with these pre-emission trucks. Do you have any insight or better information about this topic? Thanks in advance.

Let me start by saying I like your channel so I’m not trying to bash it at all. I just think sometimes you get ahead of yourself. If you are wanting to get into heavy haul and have never done it yourself you might need to take a step back and take your new viewers on your journey when you start heavy hauling. Be informed before informing. I know people and of people that have had incidents and didn’t end their career as a truck driver. Talk with the heavy haul guys at Landstar, Keen, ATS, Daily,Valley Transportation. The more information you have will help the new drivers more. Keep up the good work on your channel.

@@DrivenTrucking Stretch RGNs are heavy but nice. I like Globe out of FL. You can tour the small factory. I did realize that if you are trying to move up in size more than likely a try-axle won't last long. I enjoyed pulling it. It kept me moving vs having to deadhead a lot or wait for a good RGN load.

@9:41 I like how do you don’t get into numbers. I feel like that is what is wrong with some people with this industry people spit out numbers. Then Joe Doe comes out and buys a truck because John told him he could make big bucks. But Joe is making pennies. Not every person is the same and not every person will make the same amount of cash. How much work ethic determines if you make the big buck. Nice vid man!
