I just ordered the ironheart. I've been needing a good backup amp. I'm really excited about having a real amp in this tiny form factor. This Laney and my modeler before and through the effects loop is going to simplify my set up, and sound so good.

Being able to eq the IR is brilliant. Very often IRs are not exactly the frequencies you want. Also having to of them is even better. And built in reverb as well. Killer 🎉

Why is this twice the price of the Loudpedal Foundry? Just because of the added reverb and the Miller/Quayle signature?

Foundry pedals are made in china; these are "blackcountry custom". Meaning: Made in UK.

Around 11:00 you seem to be implying that the 3-band EQ is only for channel 1 and the single tone dial is only for channel 2. You are wrong here - both the tone control and 3-band EQ apply to both channels.

I got 'seduced' by the IronHeart pedal and so I bought one. From the studio and DAW production side it turned out to be quite the disappointment! If there was a firmware fix for it would buy it again. To practice in silent mode, you have to use the AUX IN to route a mix into it. The AUX signal also gets routed through the CAB IR , rendering the functionality largely unusable. To make that worse, the stereo AUX gets summed to mono, defeating the purpose of integrating the pedal into a production workflow. The USB C audio only route OUT to the DAW for recording, not IN, so you have to use the AUX (good luck with that, because most DAWs don't like multiple hardware devices). Half the point of recording over USB is to be able to record DRY on one channel, and it doesn't do that, either. Just two channels of the same signal (post) (instead of a pre (L) and post (R)) which means no reamping capability. The Return jack is mono, so no stereo effects which also defeats the purpose of it having "stereo" recording option in the DAW. I love Laney products so I'm really bummed they dropped the ball on this one. So close!

Strange, manual says that: "In addition, there is dual channel USB audio. The left channel will provide you with the emulated audio, following whatever the LA∙IR emulation switch is set to. The right channel will provide you with the unemulated audio, bypassing the inbuilt cabinet emulation."

@@kennethdarlington good point about the L and R distinction. Still not useful for reamping, only re-cab-ing! The EQing in LAIR was the best part about it. But the difficulty in monitoring via headphones, because it routes the mix through the cab IR and mono-ized, really made it unusable. I can think of one use case where that would desirable: using the cab IRs with an external pedal or amp-in-a-box. Definitely not useful from a production workflow, causing many work-arounds.

Not bad pedals, however, in that form factor size, you can get a really good modeller, load IRs, many different AMPs and loads of FX. If i was building a board, this is not it. ToneX, IR-X .. but a quad cortex or fractal FM3 just blow this away in terms of versatility, sound palette and options. I cannot see these being that popular in the market personally.

This is the same exact concept as the IR-X, exact that this pedal has reverb and a power amp in roughly the same footprint...

You need a separate power amp to power a speaker for all of those that you mentioned. Hell the Friedman makes it a pain in the ass to even run an emulated and a raw signal at the same time, one reason I'm not interested in that unit.

I see this as a win. It is a real amp with built in boost and reverb plus two channels with switching. Paired with something like the HX stomp this saves loads of processing space meaning you don't have to have reverb or boost in the helix signal chain and can have space for more effects along with a much more accurate sounding amp sound. This is the future.

I have not heard anything great or unique from Tom Quayle or Martin Miller, so why should I care? For me they are nobodys and these pedal amps do not convince me much soundwise. For the final tubeless tones and a lously Class D budget power amp much too expensive too in my opinion. EUR 290,- would be my limit for such a pedal amp, but I certainly never wanted to buy EUR 449,- for these tubeless fake tones.
