The New School's Eugene Lang College (newschool.edu/lang) in partnership with Teatro LATEA, present an award-winning play by Dea Loher, translated and directed by Daniel Brunet: The Last Fire.
A young boy is hit by a car and killed on a bright and sunny August day. The sole witness is a stranger who has just moved to this neglected neighborhood on the outskirts of a city. The lives of everyone in the neighborhood are forever changed. It slowly becomes apparent how this tragedy affects the fragile lives of everyone involved. The play tells the story of a community that creates hope in its search for consolation and happiness yet ultimately fails - a painfully poetic kaleidoscope of human life.
Named 2008 "Play of the Year" by Theater Heute, Germany's national theater magazine.
