If he really understood the differences among the composers and among the music periods, then he wouldn't play them all like Chopin or Schumann. He is not a true musician. He is an entertainer. I just found a video "The difference between an entertainer and a musician". The critic who made that video is brilliant. Watch and listen to Lang Lang and Kissin (a real musician) play the same piece.

You are. Beethoven did not write it as a romantic piece - Lang Lang made it sound like a love poem or other nonsense. Lang Lang played it badly.

If everyone just played exactly what's on the sheet then everything would sound the same ... Just like singers, when they cover a song it wouldn't be interesting if they just sang it like karaoke

Go take a class online or in a community college to learn what real music sounds like. Listen to great pianists who won the major competitions. This entertainer never competed or won. Judges would laugh him off the stage. He is a joke.

"Seen" is right. This is not music. This is entertainment for people who do not really know what the different composers' compositions should sound like. It is like a comic book version of "1984" or "Gone with the Wind". Go listen to good pianists. Look it up on youtube. This guy is not in their league.

When played by real musicians, those pieces are awesome. NOT Lang Lang. HIS performance is all a show to make you "feel" certain emotions. He leans to his audience with exaggerated expressions and body movements and you are watching more than listening. He has never won any of the international competitions because he is all show. His ridiculous sudden changes of tempo to show off (super duper fast) or sudden banging bass (thunderous pain) would be laughed off the stage by juries at the competitions, great critics, and truly great pianists. Listen to the real pianists and then go back to hear this entertainer. You will hear the difference. Close your eyes. Do not get suckered again. Snake Oil.
