The Langmoor and Lister Gardens were created as part of major stabilisation works completed in 2007. The gardens are a quiet and tranquil space, with plenty of winding paths to wander along, and grassed areas and benches to sit with a picnic and enjoy the spectacular views across Lyme Bay.
The planting is designed to encourage wildlife. Low shrubs have been planted for cover, with grasses and seed-bearing plants for food.
The Woodland Walk provides a shaded pathway through the tall trees and we have recently enhanced the walk with a new route through the woods. We have installed bird feeders, nest boxes, big hotels, bird tables and bat boxes to encourage more wildlife to the area, and information boards highlighting the flora and fauna in the area.
We are currently working on a project to enhance the gardens with a lighting scheme. The coloured lighting will draw out key features of the gardens and we hope to have this in place in 2019.
Sculpture Trail
While wandering through the gardens you may come across interesting pieces of art.
The sculpture trail has been a feature of the Langmoor and Lister Gardens since 2015, showcasing a range of contemporary sculpture by local artists.
We work in partnership with the Arts Development Company to support the trail as we believe it enhances the natural beauty of the gardens, provides a unique outdoor gallery for local artists, and offers free art for residents and visitors.
The artworks are selected each year from established and upcoming artists.
