My favorite part about this video is how closely the Nissan GT-R and Honda NSX matched up in 1992 and 1995. Modern cars might be faster, but these two cars are still legends. You can see how the same Driver responds to the Turbo AWD vs Midengine NA RWD. 👍

@@thefrandwestprinc7628 NSX is lighter than the R33. R33 GT-R is the heaviest of the Skyline GT-R family. Also the low height design helps to reduce the NSX's drag. A 4000 lbs muscle car with 276 hp would be slow, so the muscle need at least 400+ to compensate that weight. Power to weight ratio and aerodynamics.

NSX R is very impressive for an NA car from almost 30 years ago. Im sure there wasn't many NA cars faster than it in 1992 around the ring. I can only think of one NA car that could have been faster than it around the ring in 1992 and that could be a McLaren F1. Only bacuase it was lighter with more power but not better handling imo. Could a NA Ferrari , Porsche or Lambo from that year be faster than an NSX R. I honestly don't think so.

What do you mean by saying "for an NA car", sounds like you're making a concession, the NSX engine was more powerful than Porsche NA engines of that time, in 0-400m BM tests it can beat even GT-Rs, nsx engine didn't give it any disadvantages among other cars of that time, on the contrary, it rather gave an advantage to it thanks to honda technology and knowledge.

You mean no car was so heavily modifed and non-street legal around the time ;) a 993 GT2 would have shown them who's boss. In fact, any Carrera RS would have in a factory conducted test

The GT-R is about 1500+ kg, about 300 kg heavier than the NSX and the NSX has low drag and low height design to maximize speed under the gentleman's agreement limit of 276 hp.

NSX faster around corners but the maximum speed on straight and exit acceleration GTR is faster. First half showed that more corners NSX is ahead of the GTR but as the track get more long stretch the GTR is a little faster. Especially the top speed stretch. NSX is a better handling car. 276HP NA and the gentleman agreement. Whereas the GTR stated as 276HP but the actual power is 330HP+ at the wheel on the dyno. Basically, the GTR R33 had nearly 50HP more than the NSX-R when running at the Nurgburring.

@@questaebenzinah2600 because Mr. Honda is a real gentleman. Honda can easily make the NSX more powerful but agreed to the gentleman agreement and went for balance instead. The NSX makes more power after 100,000km because Honda made everything so we'll balanced it took the car 100,000km to break in.

@@questaebenzinah2600 Yes, it's unique to NSX. Because of the engines are hand built and very precised. Engine break in after 100,000km and gain about 10hp. There is a video on KZfaq about it and mentioned by Tsuchiya the Drift King.

The NSX only start it faster than the gtr cause it it had more speed at the beginning of the race. Look at the beginning of the video. And compare the speed. You’ll see the difference.

From nsx and gtr that time together was the best time against all challenges as long as they use professional drivers with a name whole time.... use every car over 8 races then you use 8 drivers swapping 8 cars that are professional names 1 circuit that every car can benefit around the world America japan Australia new Zealand Germany england professional names in touring cars so they extract everything out of street cars. I dont care who won, its a masterpiece car versus a overvalued car. The Honda NSX for me is much better than a Gtr. I like both this cars but the first generation of NSX is a masterpiece and undervalued next to Gtr, Supra etc. For me NSX and Toyota 2000 GT are the Japonese masterpieces. I think a turbo car with 4 WD vs a NA car with less power is not even fair, unless it was in a circuit with less straights. But the handling of the NSX in corners is superior.

Gtr only catched up on the straights and last straight increased the lead, nsx had the gtr in the corners.

At the same time the NSX-R is a radical car with a firm suspension, tire suitable for the track where an R33 GT-R is more civilized with suspensions and original tire more versatile and comfort. Once updated because of the very small difference there is I'm not sure the NSX is more efficient in cornering. Moreover, the real competitor of the NSX-R would rather be the R33 400R. It didn't turn nürb but the difference would be carnage…. lol

Modified cars with the best drivers possible. It's funny how an R33 somehow beats plenty of Ferraris here and loses to a 993 Carrera on two other tracks. But who doesn't love fake laptimes?

@@negative-lift Not if you can't put it into relation with anything. It's crazy how much effort Japanese put into making their laptimes look out of this world. R33? If you need a factory driver, remove the rear seats for a roll cage and it's even considered controversial on Wikipedia you know something is up. Also braindead fanboys keep comparing them to cars that were 2 seconds slower in a sport auto test which was clearly far from being as professional.

@@Corvolet5 the R33 does seem to be peculiar due to outmatching NSX-R on straights. So it likely indeed wasn't stock. However, NSX-R's lap time seems fine to me.

@@negative-lift From the data I have available I can't exactly say its results would be in that segment. I know it's a second faster than an E36 M3 and a 993 Carrera on rather unknown tracks like Thruxton and Jarama but other than that I think it lacks the capability to achieve anything that fast. Especially an NA1 can't compare to the likes of a Ferrari F355 for example, which beats it on any track except the Nürb for some reason.

@@Corvolet5 I don't think fastestlaps (which I assume is your source) provides the most reliable data. I looked at it and the car doesn't even have a correct picture ('90 base model), weight (1230kg), or production years (92-95). But the biggest issue is the laptimes, they are in lots of cases incomparable due to different range of driving skill, tyres or conditions of the track and sometimes they don't even provide a source (not just in 355 vs NSX-R comparison). The only lap times that make sense to compare in the comparison are Suzuka and Tsukuba, where both cars were pushed by professional drivers and just made sense from logical perspective. Hockenheim Short, Jarama, but even Nurburgring are simply not comparable, there is no way that 355 would be over 3 seconds faster on the first two (and such short) tracks, but also no way that NSX-R would be over 10 seconds faster on Nurburgring. So, I don't think NA1 NSX-R is not match for 355 as you say. It's a more track focused car with cornering advantage, that also isn't far too off in straight line performance (ignoring rolling from higher speeds). On most tracks I do think the 355 would still win, but the point is it wouldn't win by a big margin, and in some cases NSX-R could win. And I also think the 355 would have done a similar time on the Nurburgring Ring, maybe even 2-3 seconds faster, if it had a proper lap time.
