She speaks French with perfect "parisian accent", her Quebec accent is absolutely perfect too, she is even better when speaking Belgian accent, I'm not a native English speaker but I can ear both British accent and American accent... 100% ! I totally agree. I feel like I, with so many others, have been robbed for so many years of the opportunity to even know Lara existed, let alone her exceptional voice and talent.

I would say that much differently. Underrated means observed and "scored" low. Lara Fabian has kept to such a high quality of performance and culturally mature content that a lot of the mainstream music community simply has not heard of her. If anything, she lacks the kind of exposure that would earn a different rating HOWEVER, that being said, Lara strikes me as person who cares more about the depth of her work and sharing it with people who can appreciate it for what it is. What it is being EVERYTHING beautiful and NOTHING mainstream garbage. Lara is a gift to anyone truly listening NOT only to her incredibly beautiful voice but also listening to the heart and soul where that voice comes from.

correction : audrey hepburn was half dutch . her mother is a countess's , her father is british . during the ww2, she lived in the netherlands . her mother is countess / royal blood . lara fabian father is belgium , mother is italian . she lived in italy and they moved to brussels . so she can speak dutch in a belgian way ( vlaams ) but if i hear her speaking dutch , you can detect that her dutch of vlaams is you will, is not fluent .

It doesn’t make it any impressive considering she has extensive vocabulary in all 4 languages. Besides, plenty of people grow up forgetting the language they were raised with. How many people raised in an Italian household for instance complain about not being able to speak it as adults ? Exactly.

There is still a bit of foreigness in her accent, like how she aspirates her T (a very common thing in Germanic languages) when she says enTiendo (4:33, 4:44, 4:46), and how she aspirates her Q in como Quiere (4:43). She also infuses a lot of Italian tendencies in her Spanish. For example, she trills her R in pRimera (5:19), something common in Italian but not in Spanish, though she tries to correct herself afterward. She also says con toda A miA sinceridad y con todo IL miO corazón (5:10), which should've been con toda mi sinceridad y con todo mi corazón, as unlike in Italian, in Spanish, possessive pronouns like the word "my" don't carry a gender, though the word "mine" does (mia and mio literally mean mine in Spanish, instead of my), and most importantly, they don't carry an indefinite article (Italian would be il mio/la mia vs. Spanish is just mi). She also says me sEnto como en casa, instead of me sIEnto como en casa (5:05). She also incorporates a bit of Portuguese as she is speaking to a Brazilian TV host, such as when she says eM BraSIL (4:54), intead of eN Brasil. Notice the difference between the S and L pronunciation in Spanish and Portuguese. The single S in Portuguese, like in Italian, when not at the start of a word or end of a syllable, makes a Z sound, and the final L is dragged with a diphthong I vowel. Also, I wouldn't say she sounds 100% from Spain. She doesn't do the theta TH sound when she says conoCido (5:14), graCias (5:23), coraZón (5:12, 5:24, 5:59), and veZ (5:20, 5:34), and it couldn't be from Andalusia or the Canary Islands of Spain, as those C and Z would be more aspirated, and the N in corazóN would be more nasal, resembling more of a French N sound rather than the typical Spanish N sound. Overall, she is very fluent at the language. Definitely not native, but can definitely work and defend herself to survive and function in a Spanish-speaking society.
