This woman could make stones weep. She has a gift beyond her singing and song writing and performing. She has the rare ability to make people FEEL things. She's said that she doesn't believe that language should be a barrier for emotion and when she sings, it's not! The number of people who have reacted to her songs without the subtitles and have still been able to understand the emotions she's conveying is quite impressive. And then there are those who chose a video with subtitles but admitted that they barely read them because the were totally absorbed in her performance. That's an amazing gift. There are those of us who, for various reasons, have "turned down" or even "turned off" our emotions just to make it through a time in our lives. The problem then becomes turning them back on. It's not easy and can be incredibly scary even when we really want to. And we need, or maybe I should only speak for myself, and I need to find ways to just release some of that pressure but it's not as easy as it looks and it's often inconsistent or will work once and then not again. But Lara has the ability to break through. On a regular basis she is able to make me feel deeply and slightly less regularly she makes me cry. In the best way possible.

She's still alive and she still has some works. Recently she wrote a song during the pandemic, an hommage to doctors and nurses. I want to add, that she was denied a career in the US. She was on Sony Music, and making a lot of success. She was slowly being a star. All of a sudden, Sony Music said they didn't want to keep the contract with her and she was invited to sign with an obscure company, changing style, losing weight and dacing à la Cher, somethign she obviously denied. It is known now it was the other canadian artist (that famous female singer) that managed it all with Sony Music, so her career went back a little. However, she has always been famous in Europe.

It’s for sure, since the 90s, it’s a shame that English speaking countries and others are only discovering Lara only now. I hope you don’t stop there: so many other songs from her to discover and not only in Italian. She speaks 4 or 5 languages and sings at least in 12 languages. She writes or co-writes most of her songs. Today, she still sings even, though her voice has changed slightly (Lara is 51 years old and she suffered a hearing accident in May 2013 in the studio after being subjected to too violent a sound).Her voice is still so beautiful !!!!! PS: Lara Fabian could have been a superstar worldwide (and in the USA in particular), she confessed last year in Canada where she lives, the reason why she didn't make it in the USA. At the time, she and Céline Dion had the same music company (Sony), Céline was already a star in America, when Lara had just arrived. Lara revealed that Céline Dion's team (not Céline herself) did everything to sink her/sabotage her career as Lara had the whole package to also become an immense star in America, and worldwide. The music company didn't want another huge voice to compete with Céline's, and instead of supporting her, of supporting her style of music/songs (such as 'Love by Grace'), Lara was forced to leave it for another company and forced to change her professional team. As a result, it was all over, the other company formated Lara to make her sing pop songs such as "I will love again", a style of music/songs for which Lara and her stunning voice weren't made for, they also wanted her to lose 20 kilos and asked her to go blond. Such a waste, as she should be as famous and successful as Céline or Mariah Carey today. Having said that, she has a lot of respect & admiration for Céline Dion, and is very happy with her great career. She's a huge star in France, Belgium, Canada, Russia and is quite well known in a few other countries too. Her idol remains Barbara Streisand. Lara is STILL VERY MUCH ALIVE. Thankfully! She was born in 1970. She's still young and very much singing. You need to get all her past albums now -- in English and French. I highly recommend an early one entitled "NUE". It's so dreamy, you will never be the same again after you hear it. ☺

Her early concert videos are chock full of memorable cuts, but I love many of her more recent songs, and nobody reacts to them. Lara's incredibly beautiful and resonant voice, her stage presence and her ability to emote bring me to tears with nearly every song. I first heard Lara in 1999 when some singles, including "Love by Grace" were released on the radio in the US.
